This video has been such a live saver! I'm not a tech wizard when it comes to repairs but this has been very good guidance! Thanks!

Same case as my S70-B - for me the battery edge of the case hung up pretty strongly but eventually popped open without damage. Another "...70..." model apparently has screws under the keyboard, but not on my S70-B. This video is the best one; never did figure ouit what hung up until the last minute. Only comments on the video itself - the part of the case of most interest to me is at the bottom of the video "under" the KZbin progress bar, and a tighter closeup would have been nice at one or two points.

Nice video. I have this noisy issue also. But before I replace the fan I will try to put new paste between coolant and the chips.

I have the same laptop, the problem started a few months ago. Recently i had to erase everything in the hardisk, including the Toshiba Recovery partition (it wasn't working anyway) and installed Windows 10 Pro. Now the laptop only uses the Intel HD 4600 graphics card. The device manager shows randomly the AMD gpu ("show hidden devices" enabled) and, when it does, it is disabled by Windows because, according to the OS, it is "causing problems". The weirdest thing is, also recently, when i start Windows, sometimes the network adapter gets disabled (obviously loosing my internet connection) and when this happens the AMD gpu gets enabled It's as if there is some kind of a conflict between these two components... I already tried clean installations of the most recent graphics card drivers for the Intel and the AMD, also the original manufacturer ones after a clean Windows 10 installation. Also tried 7 and 8 Windows. Also i've tried to update bios but it has the latest version. The bios is the UEFI version, so don't have switchable graphics option... Am i missing something? I've seen hundreds of people with similar problem reporting and none of them gave a final solution for this. The technicians says that may the graphic card fried or malfunction and need to be replaced...i won't fall for that because i've seen people having the same problem and the laptop was recently new. So i believe it's something else. When i choose "show hidden devices" it's there but in ''ghost'' mode... I've tried booting linux through usb also in the terminal doesn't show the gpu... Thank you in advance for any help. I'm starting to have a headache trying to figure this out a long time and no success...

Recently i installed Ubuntu 22.04 on it and just like jou said, the Wifi suddenly lose connection for 1 - 2 seconds and than back on. Why, i do not know yet, but it was during downloading and installing extra software. The AMD gpu was also not working / not visible.. I replaced only the Wifi card. Still works almost 2 years later. Now it runs Ubuntu Mate 24.04-1.

The amount of thermal paste is generally over applied. The IC & heatsink are machined flat & the paste is supposed to fill the microscopic holes in the metal. A general rule is half the size of a grain of rice spread evenly across one surface. :)

My Toshiba Satellite shows on the bottom, that it is a Satellite S70-B, not P70, does this method work the same for changing out the fan? Thanks for any help. James Lee

Nice video, but not putting the top on your isopropyl alcohol concerned me slightly. 1/ It could easily be knocked over causing damage and also possibly a fire hazard. 2/ It is hygroscopic, so will absorb water vapour from the air.

7:00 That's not how a laptop CPU/GPU cooler works. There is no coolant. The CPU's thermal dissipation heats up the copper pipe, which heats up the radiator grid, and the fan blows air through the radiator to cool it down with convection. That's how the heat is moved out of the case and into your room.
