I'm not an expert either. What do you think? For a clock this old, should the main spring barrel be cleaned? Yes, you said it looks like someone has cleaned this clock not too long ago. Just asking and your thoughts.

I go on appearances a lot of times. If I were to take the movement apart then I would clean the spring but in this case the movement looks like it has been recently serviced. He bought the clock at a flea market. I think that someone didnt lock the pendulum down as the spring looks like it has perfect twists in it. So I am not going to take it apart and clean it. Still running and it has been about 6 or so hours since I put it in beat. Keeping good time. So I am going to leave it alone.
