I recently did this same job and I have some notes to add: 1. Work through the wheel well to remove/replace the heat shield and wiring while the starter is bolted in place (with the battery disconnected!) 2. If you're not using a lift, consider removing the wheel for easier access through the wheel well

Mine finally crapped out on my Sierra. Made it 230k miles. I feel like that’s pretty amazing it lasted as long as it did.

Dropping starting and black plate that is attached to bell housing helps with a little more space and removal of solenoid cover to easily access cable bolt and connector.

If your battery is bad you will hear multiple clicking if your starter is bad you Will hear one when you turn the key and then one more when you turn the key back off

Had the same thing a couple weeks ago on an E150 at work. Everyone thought it was the battery. Battery wasn’t even a year old. Checked everything out and ended up replacing the starter 🤷🏻♂️

I have a question. I'm from the Philippines and is automotive servicing a good course in becoming a diesel mechanic?
@UnrealKinniki3 жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert, but I would recommend maybe trying to find courses for Diesel engines! Mainly because diesel engines/systems tend to differ from gasoline, but other than that I'd say it's at least a good place to start! Good luck :0

It says that it teaches diesel engine tune up
@UnrealKinniki3 жыл бұрын
@@carlcadiz4766 Ahh, so it probably teaches basics of diesel and their engine repair, but I'm not expert :0

We put a new (re manufactured) starter in yesterday and still getting the one click. If I jump it it starts

Check the ground from the battery to the engine for corrosion or bad cable. I’ve seen a couple with issues there.

Thank you. Tried to charge the battery this morning and not going past 11amps. Ordered a replacement as this one is from 2018. Needless to say, I think we definitely got our money’s worth with it

must be nice to have a volt meter dude. I hate that manufacturers have largely gotten rid of useful gauges

I gotta replace mine at 328,000 miles on my silverado. Bought it at 43000 and replaced brakes and spark plugs, until this year that's all I ever had to do

Was it helpful moving those lines alot?
@DynamicBits2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can do it without pulling those lines down a little. Maneuvering the starter out is like completing the horseshoe puzzle at Cracker Barrel.
