Replacing the tailgate lift gas struts on a Honda Civic

In this video we look at replacing the gas lift struts on our Honda Civic. In addition you get to look at all the rubbish in my boot !

@@L663 My civic will soon be 14 years old...has 220k km now. For these gas struts I paid 12€. Recently got a new CR-V, this one is probably going to a sale soon

Summer the struts work in the winter it doesn't.... so it might be just the weather effecting them.

yes the temp changes the oil viscosity... maybe i could just move to a warm country

Mine doesn’t work anymore after the cold winter (norway). Bought new ones recently

I've changed mine, but they are to stif, the lid close hard and open slowly, maybe it will break out?

Looking at a bunch of lifts for my boot as I keep smacking my head on it (and one is clearly bulged/rusting)... :D Where'd you grab yours, if you don't mind me asking? Seen some for 15-20, what did you end up spending?

The trunk supposed to go up so slowly ? Changed the strunts already payed like 42€ but still slowly. Kinda like yours

They can be slow in the cold.

No problem - simply hang some bags of sand from the underside of your bonnet ! Added bonus is if you then spill some oil you have some sand on hand to put on the spilt oil !

Yeah I've got ones for the Mercedes ML fitted to mine as they are stronger than standard civic ones to cope with lifting the extra weight of the Mugen spoiler
