My 2017 Malibu Lt was was reading the P1101 code and I've replaced MAF sensor, cleaned the throttle body, and I also replaced the air filter. The check engine light still was on until I decided to take it to a shop today and they ran a diagnostic for $45 and found out that the throttle body needed replaced. They wanted to charge me $450 until I found your video and realized I can replace it myself. So when the part comes in tomorrow I'll be replacing it myself thanks to your video.

Did you clear the code after you replace all those parts you replace Because the check engine light wont turn off unless you do

My scan tool is throwing a P1101 twice, pending & permanent. P0299, P2227. Replaced the turbo booster sensor & cleaned the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner. Engine light stayed off longer than it was after all that. But ultimately came back on. So I removed the throttle body tube and noticed some light gunk & condensation bubbles on butterfly valve, So I carefully cleaned that as well. Same codes still show. ANY advice would be much appreciated. (2017 Chevy Malibu LT 1.5 Turbo) Thank you! 💪🏼

Try clean clean the throttle body properly and also replace your engine air filter check for leaks in the intake system

Is there a throttle relearn procedure after replacing the TB on these cars? I’m getting ready to replace the TB on my cousins 2019 Malibu because of TPS codes and from what I was reading it requires a relearn or else the idle and such will be off. Was looking at buying a GM specific scan tool to do the relearn but if that’s not necessary it would be nice.

I guess my question is. How do you know if the throttle body is bad? The black hose keeps popping off for me. Same p1101 code. I'm hoping just cleaning will be enough, but I'm in uncharted territory for me

Did you ever fix that? My car is doing the same thing. Hose keeps popping off every time I step on the gas, but I have no code. I'm thinking on cleaning the throttle body anyways see if helps though.

@@jorgetellez9335 if your hose keeps coming off it could be that the throttle body it is swept and that makes the black hose not fit well. Hope it works!

As a temporary fix, use zip ties. There is a heatsink right behind that hose that works well for this purpose. As long as it's on nice and snug it should work until you can replace it.

what drill did you use to get the bolts out, I have a black & decker drill but need to know if this will work so I can clean the throttle body

That will work. If it's an impact drill, I strongly encourage not to use it. It will strip the bolts. At least I saw a mechanic used on my car and that's what happened (honest mistake that was easily fixed but may not be for others)

You don't need to remove the engine cover but you need to remove that hose. Removing the engine cover is optional, but could make it a little easier to get to.

You have to make sure the clip you took off the tube to clean the throttle body is back in the correct way lined up with the hole shaped like then on both sides where the clip goes

Unplug your negative terminal, and get a can of throttle body cleaner from your auto part store or Walmart. Do exactly what he did and take off the part and clean it. He could've done a better job narrating this video

It doesn't turn to the left. Towards the back of your engine compartment to the right. and it will lead you to the throttle body. All other steps are the same
