I’m considering buying a Leaf and this gives me an idea to solve a drawback with the car. I want wireless CarPlay and it can be added with an aftermarket module, but with the Leaf there’s nowhere to plug it in and hide it without exposed cables. But one could buy an extra plug like this or an adapter and run it internally to the glove box, giving wireless functionality with a clean look. There may be a way to split it and keep the front plug functional, but at worst the original front plug just says there as a dummy placeholder to keep it looking clean and stock. Year 2020+ models with two USB inputs gives even more flexibility.

This was great help with changeing my own module, but after the Android Auto will not work. It will charge the phone , but not start Auto

Do you have any tips?

I'd first test by swapping out the cable you're using - I've had cables go bad before where certain pins wear out, which would explain being able to charge but not connecting to Auto. If that doesn't help, then I'd try plugging in other Android phones - if the other phones start Auto just fine, then there's something about your phone which is causing an issue and I'd try rebooting it. However, if they're also not starting Auto when connected, then I'd suspect that 1) the cable is either not plugged in fully into the back of the USB module or 2) that the connector itself is bad, which would unfortunately require dealer service.

Does replacing that make CarPlay more reliable? Mine often fails to start, and when it does, disconnects randomly
@williamlin2414 Жыл бұрын
It can help it be more reliable, but there's lots of other variables involved, like the cable you use, the state of your phone's connector, your phone itself, etc. I mention all those other things because at one time or another each has caused issues for me and was solved by fixing that particular part. But ultimately, it got to the point where the connection was super flaky, and replacing the cable, rebooting the phone, etc. didn't help. That's when I saw that the port itself was broken and replaced it as per my video, restoring it to its normal state. So the answer is yes, it can make CarPlay more reliable, but only if that's the part of the chain that's flaking out.

The 2021 SV plus has usb-c. Any idea on number?
@williamlin2414 Жыл бұрын
I've tried finding that part number, thinking maybe I could put the USB-C module in my 2019, but for some reason it's been really difficult finding the relevant diagram with the part number. If you find it, please post it here! I would totally buy it and try putting it in my 2019.

@@williamlin2414I think I found the part number but never ordered because it started working with a new cable. The port is loose, but functional. I will definitely update if I order one.

Wow... they have you connect your USB module... with a USB cable xD That USB module (save for the 3.5mm jack) is basically just a F TO F Mini USB to USB-A converter. That's ridiculously lazy to me

Far too complex. If it’s already damaged just put a screwdriver in it & pull it out. Simples…
