I did. Actually I had a small accident where I opened the valve first and then started my car, so coolant sprayed all over the place 😂😂😂 I wiped all out with degreaser and soapy water, and added more coolant to get it again to right level. Heat works perfectly and the coolant’s needle stayed right in the middle after an hour of solid driving, so I’m guessing I should be good to go. Thank you again

Hey man, I’m having an overheating issue on my 2015 dodge charger (3.6 V6). Back in July my thermostat was stuck open and it threw a code for it being below regular operating temps. I sent it over to the dealer I bought it from, they claimed they replaced the thermostat, flushed the system and replaced it with new coolant. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I noticed that my car begins to overheat when I’m idling for long periods of time (drive-thru, stop light, etc) or when I’m parked and the car’s had time to warm up. It ONLY overheats during these situations. If I’m cruising down the road, I don’t have any problems. Now, I took it to a mechanic, he claims there were no coolant leaks, no damage to the water pump or radiator and the fans are kicking on as they should. He said I should just bring it to dodge to have them look it over. I guess I just want to see if someone else has had such a puzzling problem as I have. Could it be something so overlooked as maybe the system wasn’t properly “burped” upon the completion of the new thermostat back in July? And I’m just now noticing it? P.S. I have no lights on my dash and it drives perfectly fine.

Check ur coolant level and start to diagnose fan operation fuses and relays also need attention did u been it Whe u did the thermo but the only hint I had is car over heats when idling that means when it’s moving it gets air from car moving and when u stop there’s no air flow fan might not be working

Is there any way w mechanic could screw with the electronics and ruin thermostats operation? I just had a car in for one repair, oil pump, then they said I needed the gas pump changed since it wouldn’t start (I had really old gas in my tank but they said they wasn’t the issue ) So I changed the oil pump and gas pump, car ran for 6 days and now I got the engine light again and it’s this exact code , one of my headlights went out and also got a code for my ABS. Iv never had any issues with the car , I take it ok for one thing and coincidentilely all this happens . Could it be an issue with pcm or they did something by mistake or intentionally to mess with my electronics? My temp doesn’t go to high when I’m driving it’s right below middle so it’s normal like 185 ish. I checked coolant and it isn’t below the bottom line in the tank but It’s close to it. Could this could come up just because I need to add a bit more coolant, even though the coolant isn’t technically too low? It’s still between the lines on the tank . I’m tryna figure out if somehow my electronics got messed up, honestly when I left the dealer I did notice my brakes feel weird, like Rumbly , bumpy for a bit then it went away . Can this all be coincidence or is there something connecting al these dots? I’d appreciate your insight!

Btw the weather outside was like 50 when I checked if that matters but when I checked the coolant temp etc everything was as usual so idk why the engine light is on if the reading aren’t off

Thanks for the response . I think what has me confused Is why that would only occur right after they took apart my engine a few days prior , not just the thermostat but also ABS and lights issues . Also the coolant temp reads normal 185 driving maybe 203 Idle . Doesn’t seem like anything is wrong With coolant temp

Thing is they didn’t even touch the thermostat or atleast they shouldn’t have . I took my car for a Fuel pump and oil pump change. So I went for unrelated issues , but then less then a week later now I have multiple new issues

How would you know if it's the actual Thermostat or the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. I recently got a check engine light on with a Code #P0128 Coolant Thermostat. It tells me to replace the Thermostat or the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.

@@RedSummer-dt9oz although i do have the ability to reset the code on my fixed scanner, the light went off by it self. Auto zone can turn the light off for you though, but it should go off by itself. Make sure the part is good and everything is step by step. Also remember the code seen can also mean there are other components that can cause coolant temp problems luckily for me it happened to be the thermostat.
