Replacing valve cover gasket MB SLK 230 -99

Oil leaked to spark plug holes, I replaced gaskets.

I believe you left the old gasket metal ring in the valve cover and just removed the rubber. That is the reason why the new ones didnt fit properly. Its quite a task to press in withoit a proper tool. I used a metal ring which i had which was the correct size to hammer it in. Pulling the old ones out can be a task too. I used a dremmel to cut a notch which i used to put a flat head screw driver in to pry out.

4 O-ring will only come out without the metal ring the new one could not fit in.❌❌❌

Do you know does it say anywhere on the engine block or wherever what the size of cc is I think I've had my engine replaced in mine it's supposed to be 230 but the engine number has been rubbed off not sure why?? I wonder if there's anywhere the capacity is stamped on the Block separate to where the engine number would be. I'm thinking the timing marks might be different on the smaller cc engine but I don't know what they should be in degrees if anybody knows. A better way when using the wire to fasten the hose is to get your length double it so you've got a eye at one end feed it round the hose put it through the eye and the other two pieces around again and feed it through the other side of the eye and Bend it over and cut off the excess. you don't need to twist it and can cause the pipe to break and looks unsightly and is not a such a good fastener. You want to soften the hose take it off put it in a glass tub or plastic container of water, put it in the microwave for 15 minutes when you take it out immediately spray it liberally with silicon oil.and it would be good to spray silicone oil anyway prevent it cracking in the future or going hard do this once year on all rubber will always stay compliant.

According to Wikipedia, 2.0 engine has 78.7 mm stroke and 2.3 has 88.4 mm. You probably can put stick to sparkplug hole, rotate engine and measure length of stroke that way.

@@zJanneKz that's a good idea just make a marking stick and measure from the bottom top dead Center the top dead center

There was sludge as I had driven short distances on cool weather. I didn't clean as I know it will clean itself when weather gets warmer or I drive longer.
