Thank you, Thank you , Thank you! The house was built in mid-fifties and the glass door knobs were not working properly - often one side (inside) would not open the door locking you in the room. If you yelled or knocked, a person on the outside could open the door and let you out. Time has passed and no one else is at home to let me out. Time to do something. I watched so many of the hundred of KZbin videos on interior door knobs, locks and latches but YOU are the only one who said watch where the screw of the knob is placed on the bolt!!! So I went and looked and sure enough the used knob had slipped and was on the edge of the bolt. I corrected this and now my two problem doors work fine. I no longer have to share my bathroom with curious cats and I can sleep late with out finding accusing eyes staring at me for a breakfast that is not on schedule. Thank you so much for that helpful hint that you so causally mentioned but that changed my life (no more late attendance with the excuse that I was locked in the bathroom after a shower or fear of being locked in a room and no one to help). Keep up the good work.

The glass door knobs made today are pretty but they are just not made well. I've used different brands but they always end up getting loose, no matter what we do they always end up not working properly 😢

go to antique store and find some real glass/crystal knobs the ones that you have to spin counter clockwise and make sure it has 2 glass knobs and 2 set screws make sure you dont over tighen it..

I appreciate this video so much! I just bought three sets of these exact knobs today and couldn’t figure out how to attach them. All I had to do was twist, duh! I also have some closet doors that are all missing knobs. Now, I can’t figure out how to remove the brass nub that’s left over from the old knob. Any thoughts? The inside of the door only has a turn key type of thing, no knob was ever there.

The Crystal knobs have a set screw that holds then onto the square shaft (it can be a regular screw but more than likely if it’s vintage and no one has messed with it, it will look like a grommet and it will be an Allen wrench screw) loosen and remove that and then you can simply twist the knob off counterclockwise.

there should be a screw somewhere you loosen then the knob should either unscrew or pull off

most older ones have a square shank so if you want to change the knob you would either need a square shank or change the hole mechanism in the door

i have not had that problem with the new ones but that's why i went with the new ones i plan on experimenting with different glues on some of my old ones but haven't got to it yet.if you're having the problem with the new ones i would take it back and maybe try another brand

Mine will NOT keep from falling off! I replaced all the knobs in my antique house with these and the set screws do not work to keep the stupid knobs on!! Grrrr!!!
