thanks for this video dude. ive got a 67 with one piece windows but i prefure having the vent window. ive been told by many folk that removing and installing the scrapers is a real pain but after watching your video, im now less nervous about tackling the job of switching back to how vw intended. ive got two 2nd hand doors as parts donors but i will be obtaining new scrapers.

I really enjoy watching your videos. This brings back so many memories of when I had to disassemble for a repaint not to long ago. Unfortunately at the time I needed to replace the trim but didn't have the funds to do so. So I'll be looking forward to doing this again sometime soon. Nice to have a refresher of the procedure.

No worries, I would recommend replacing as much of the rubbers as you can while it's apart unless they are in reall good shape. Nothing worse than cold air and water leaking in through old rubbers.

Hi zoopzoop, I haven't seen one but you can use this video as it's only missing a couple of steps. The glass and quarter window need removing the same as in this video, then when they are out the 2 bolts either side of the winder handle need removing, the one in the center of the door at the top which I only loosened off needs removing and the lower bolt which was removed to get the glass out. The regulator will now be free and able to be removed from the door.
@BoostedVW13 жыл бұрын
Cheers. Power windows and door locks are just aftermarket kits, VWs were never flash enough to have anything like that.

Thanks, it actually is a HD camera I'm using, I just don't upload them in HD as it makes the shakeyness seem even worse. I'll probably buy a better camera soon, it's just hard when they get so knocked around and greasy when working on the cars.

Thank you for this most informative video. Is the Bailey channel in the door vent upright the same width as the channel that runs around the top of the door and down the opening side? I am in South Africa and I am battling to source the channel.

Hi, yes it’s the same style for both pieces. If you have a sample try looking looking at 80s and 90s Nissan.

Are those Enkei RS-6 rims? If so, what wheel adapter did you use to go from the 4 lug VW to the universal pattern for the Enkei wheel? Thanks for the video. I am working on the same thing right now.
@BoostedVW7 жыл бұрын
Steve Standefer the wheels are speedy Lite-7, similar to RS6 but have an extra spoke. I don't use adapters, they mess with the track width and are illegal here in Oz, I've just got brakes with 4x100 stud pattern
@lclmsteve7 жыл бұрын
Hmm. Did the lite-7 have the proper wheel pattern? I picked up a set at a swap meet and the pattern did not match as I want them too. I just need to find a wheel adapter.

@handyishrandyish3346 жыл бұрын
do they cover the existing hole correct without modification? also thanks for the reply awesome bug man
@BoostedVW6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no, they sit just below the stock hole and need 2 screws put into the doors for mounting. I had to put a blanking plug in the hole, they also stop the quarter window swinging open all the way. They look great but I wouldn't recommend them

My windows on my 69 are extremely difficult to roll up. I have broken my window regulator twice now. Are the seals the problem or do you think it may be something worse than that? I have not replaced the seals in the 4 years I have owned the car.
@BoostedVW10 жыл бұрын
Hi, is it the actual winder mech thats breaking or the handle? If its the winder mech which part is breaking? Windows that are stiff to wind up is usually the rubber channel is just old and turned very hard making it hard for the glass to slide in it or the tracks/guides are worn out.
@Okie9310 жыл бұрын
The window is difficult to roll up. The winder mech part is breaking due to the window not wanting to slide up. Is there a way to fix the winder mech without buying a new one?
@BoostedVW10 жыл бұрын
Okie93 which part of it is breaking?
@Okie9310 жыл бұрын
I believe it to be the coil. The gear in the mech that grabs the coil seems to be stripping out.
@BoostedVW10 жыл бұрын
Okie93 I'm wondering if the new winder mechs have plastic cog/gears in them. If you disconnect the window from the winder mech is it hard to move up and down by hand?

please in the future try not to move the camera so much. i feel motion sick like i got off a tilt a whirl after a case of really cheap beer and a gallon of jack daniels. you could set the shot up at a distance get the bulk of whats going on and then slowly bring it in for necessary close ups. it would look so much better and be easier on the stomach. not to mention easier to see what you're doing. you have great information in this video a lot of people can use. just need to learn how to shoot video so its watchable. i see your apology but wow. lol.

The car project is a 100% complete restore almost at the end.. I used German trim, but could not line up or push in holes. I could not get my fingers in place to push or line up so I removed them. The clips hold the top and back of the trim and the vent window hold the front. I gave up, but thanks for the video because I know that I was doing the right thing. And I and not a quitter. Go figure
@BoostedVW5 жыл бұрын
I wasn’t sure if you meant the Bailey channel clips along the top and back or the scraper trim clips along the bottom. I always put the inner scraper in last to give a bit more room to get your fingers in there
@tonybland86845 жыл бұрын
yea the Bailey channel clips no problem, I’m gonna try one more time on the driver’s side this time and hopefully I can get all the scraper trim clips to go in. it is not suppose to be this much trouble

Are the clips not lining up with the holes or just not going through them?
