I got hit with this while shifting weights to drop a little so I opted to send my trend 2 in to get a 14 dark code which I think is a good one as versatile as that ball can be. I have no idea what could really replace the phaze or trend though especially with the options we got

HyRoad Pearl in the house! IMO the best overall league ball for most bowlers.

I picked up a Hy-Road Pearl for the Spectre exchange. It’s perfectly in between the Spectre and Trend 2 for me. Very long and snappy on the back end. It doesn’t drive like the Spectre did but I’m happy with it. I won’t be exchanging anything else.

Polished proton for an AR is an interesting idea. I laid mine out pin down and it’s still early unless there is a lot of volume.

The strength of that core would make it pretty receptive to layout changes but it’s not necessarily just about early/late. It’s the way the ball rolls/tumbles off the end of a pattern.

It’s laid out pin down, so it’s already has less flare and should be cleaner out of the pattern. With a little polish maybe the ball will be able to roll in the right spot. I’ll have to polish it and see. Right now, it’s seen a little use on Billy hardwick and it’s still early. I’ll hit it with a 4K pad and see if that helps.

I have Trend2 and Phaze2 not even close with similar layout. Trend2 has been amazing and haven’t found a place for Phaze2 yet. Still hoping. 🤞🏼

Interesting you said Proton for Altered Reality, I was thinking Dark Code cause of the similar cover strength

Dark code is way more round and continuous around the corner than then Altered.

I’m glad you shared this info for me and others. Sad but good for us.! Thank you. Q for you’ on the Trend 2, I like the phase ll could I put a 4k pad on it or a step 2 polish or a heavier polish? I couldn’t think of a heavier polish’ but knock the cover up with a 4k pad then a lite shine? Your thoughts please. I’ve heard the guy in charge of USBC, is not satisfied w/Storm that this guy said he might pull more out(Storm balls) to more out. This guy makes 400,000 a year and he wants to pick on Storm. He not satisfied because you can look up a storm ball on sites and it says not regional or national that these balls can be used but he doesn’t like the caption underneath it saying that you can use in USBC league if league secretary wants to put the USB-C rules and play with those six balls. He wants the balls not to have the option in league play at all. If one president of mens league says we are going to keep these balls out, then the other guy from another alley say’s we vote on these 6 balls to be in or out, or he says there all in. USBC guy wants all league presidents in league USBC not to let anyone of these in play. Or he said he would go to Storm to find more. To me this is all a crap show w/USBC, but I love your show dude. On the Phaze 2, I would either go up to 4000 grit or do 1500 with some Step2 polish. Not both. Rule for league allowance on these balls so far as I understand it is that team captains must unanimously agree on the ban. For tournaments, its the tournament director's choice. Chad isn't picking on Storm. It's not a witch hunt or a selective enforcement. It is the result of an investigation. Remember, just weeks ago, Hammer was in the exact same boat.

Hey man I’m curious, if you were to extend this replacement video to other brands, what might you recommend? I thought of this because a friend of mine has a Trend 2 and I’ve noticed some remarkable similarities to my Infamous when it’s shined up a bit, so that’d be my recommendation to replace a Trend 2 if someone is willing to branch out from SPI. What do you think, and what might be your recommendations from the Brunswick brands, or even Motiv for example?

I spoke with Chayton at Storm about your idea of the Proton Physix to replace the Altered and he said that using the Reality and polishing that ball to 4000-5000 would be a better option.

2 good replacements for the Trend 2 could also be the RG IDOL Synergy or the 900G HB Revival. that is if you can get your Pro Shop Operator to find them.

Would the shape of the Wolverine and RST X-2 be similar ?

Similar on how clean they are through the fronts, but shape off the end of the pattern very different. X2 is more forward while Wolverine is more continuous right to left.

So I saw on Darren Tangs video that you can trade in whatever tournament excluded ball from the storm booth but you have to have it drilled right then and there. Is that something you've heard?

I haven't heard anything about that but I would take Tang's word for it. That's about the only way it makes sense with the drilling rebate and them only having so much stock at the booth.

To clarify that, you can do the exchange at their booth in Vegas. But, and I sincerely couldn't believe this, they are CHARGING you to drill the replacement.

Kenjiyur yes Dark Code, I have the Zen, Axiom pearl, Altered Reality, Phase 4 my buddy has the Dark Code it comes off the dry hard so does the Phase 4. Until they give us more choices the Dark Code might find my bag also. Good luck sir.😁

If you're betting on exchanging balls when you get there, I'd suggest taking other balls. We bowled last Tuesday and the shop would only exchange 1 ball, and would not allow you to exchange for a Nova or Gem. A teammate the following morning was told they could not exchange for 15lbs Dark Code either. I'm sure Darren's video was done with the best of intentions, but that booth is not a Storm owned booth, and they are there to sell balls. They are doing people a favor and exchanging them, but because of that, the situation day to day is rather fluid and Darren's video may not be entirely accurate. Just something to consider.

I just watched your show, and I wanted to ask you I had the Phase 4 but I traded it for the Electrified Pearl, because it had the only weight that I could throw, 13 lbs to be exact. Did I pick the right ball? Because I already have the HyRoad and the Phase 3. (now if I could only get my mechanics in line I would be a better bowler).

No I think that’s a good third to replace the phaze 4 considering your arsenal. Those three balls should give you some distinct shapes and variety. Practice for better mechanics is more valuable than any ball though ;)
