ive watched a few of these old games now and he's been fantastic in every one. Him and Richard Hill would've been a potent back row combination. Not sure whose been the best at 8 for Eng in the modern era though, Easter? Dally? Billy?

I was there, a lovely day and some great tries. And here we are on the 14.3.2024, some 12 years later, and lo and behold , Dan Cole is playing on Saturday, and Manu might well come on too.

@tomrichardson55054 жыл бұрын
Players look unfit here too. (Albeit relative to very, very high standards). Robshaw and most of the England forwards carrying several % body fat as dead weight that wouldn't cut it today.
@wyrmseyeview264 жыл бұрын
I don't think this was a particularly classic game, in terms of quality at least. There are some great players on the field, but neither side seems fully gelled, and both are a bit sloppy. Look at footage of England at their peak in the early 00s and - although the players may not be quite so bulky (or always quite so fit) it's noticeable that the play is still a lot sharper. Compare even the video of England playing New Zealand in the same year (2012) and they look so much better.

@timealone79064 жыл бұрын
@@charlespc8855 True. He was our first choice 8 and I think he suffered from disappoment of the 2015 WC. Still a great 8 today I can't help but think if he was kept in the camp we wouldn't of had such a long list of failed number 8 attempts. Nathan Hughes, Beaumont, Mercer, Simmonds, Wilson (good player not a 8), Jack Clifford, Harrison and Brad Shields. Now with Billy injured we have Curry and Ludlam who are great players but not 8s.

What was that turnover by the number 8? His hands blatantly on the floor in front of the ball and the ref just watched him do it. Clearly never supporting his weight
