Once Blue Origin achieves orbit with new glen and its 1st stage reuse is successful will they have earned the right to have more attention. Besides with the owner being the richest man in the world there's no worry about B.O. running out of funds, so naturally there is not as much rush. SpaceX on the otherhand have a lot of things that needs to go right if they want long term success. Starship needs to work, starlink needs to work, the whole world needs to begin adopting EV's etc etc. Amazon will always be around, but EVs (TSLA stock) still have a lot to prove and starlink also needs to become profitable. -- There's a reason amazon stock is 1.8 trillion USD and TSLA is less than half of that.

@@WasatchWind Still I will rather support moon landing than new costly space station like ISS. Small scale is okay in Earth orbit. We have done enough research on microgravity,I think so. Why not do new research on 1/6g(Earth)? I want research for how medical and botany studies behave there. Above that,I would love watching Venus landing and Titan landing now. Mars is now boring as there is nothing new there to excite interest in general public. Nasa Instagram profile has more likes on nebula and Pluto than Mars photos.😂
@WasatchWind
@WasatchWind 2 жыл бұрын
@@nochance3914 The Axiom station is a commercial station that will come online in 2028. While NASA is providing funding for it, it is hardly comparable in cost to the ISS. While I do agree that we need to push our human exploration further to the Moon and Mars, I'd hardly say we're "done" with scientific research in low earth orbit. Rather, it just won't be the focus. Great work will be done there once there are more space stations and it is cheaper to get there. There is sometimes a perception that most of the experiments in space are done on the effects of microgravity on humans and animals. While there are those experiments, there are a lot that are of great importance to us on earth - stuff like cancer research. Biomedical experiments work fantastically in null gravity because the researchers no longer have to worry about gravity damaging their fragile sample. And on top of that, which I think is case enough for space stations, there are commercial applications. Many new materials can be developed and manufactured in space, as once again, there is no gravity to mess up fragile experiments and processes. Because every product we use requires materials, this will affect every aspect of life. It'll lead to things being more efficient, more environmentally friendly, etc. So no, we have not exhausted everything that can be done in null G. We've simply blazed the trail, and it's time to pass the baton to commercial companies.

The supposed leader of BO is an innovator of sorts…pioneering internet purchases with Amazon and with Shepherd…but shepherd is not new…it’s been years since the first Shepherd launch and while it seems to have less failures than Spacex…Sx is low orbit attainable..while course shepherd isn’t..and Sx has no human fatalities even though they have had more failures Sx is way more used and available…supposedly. I wonder why BO lags so far behind Sx especially with the moon presentation that Bezos & Co did.

@@Uruguayanflyers per FAI anyone that flights above the karmas Line (100km/62miles) per NASA anyone that flights above 50 miles/80Km. I know where you are coming from, but now there is more than the government route to earn your astronaut wings.

I don’t know why people are so huffy at this (this and also whether the karman line determines whether or not someone is officially an astronaut). To me if you leave most of the atmosphere behind (ie jet engines can’t work) then you are an astronaut (which means that people on high altitude balloons could also be considered astronauts). Maybe it would be better to call previous astronauts ‘pioneer astronauts’ or ‘legacy astronauts’ to point out that they’ve made a special contribution to history and over the long term, there will be so few of them compared to all the people who will have gone to space (same with cosmonauts and taikonauts). And assuming space tourists are the only end result of this current space race is short sighted. I don’t think reserving ‘astronaut’ for people who work on ISS or wherever and are sponsored by governments doing science is that useful. Hopefully in the future lots of people will be working in space and we should then refer to them primarily by what they do, not ‘astronaut’ because that’s really vague. Seeing people do specific types of jobs will be far more informative abd inspiring than just lumping everything into ‘astronaut’. I recommend reading ‘The Case for Space’ by Robert Zubrin because it goes into great detail about potential jobs in space. And to paraphrase Oprah, ‘YOU get to be an astronaut, and YOU get to be an astronaut, and YOU get to be an astronaut!!’
