BRICS leaders meet in South Africa on Tuesday as the loose association of major emerging economies seeks to assert its voice as a counterweight to Western dominance in global affairs. The so-called BRICS nations -- Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa -- represent a quarter of the global economy, and interest in joining the club has surged ahead of its three-day summit in Johannesburg.

The G-7 has been exploiting any Nation they assume they can threaten with Military Power. The clearest example is in Niger. The timing appears to be designed to provoke consideration of the exploitation of the Planet by the G-7 group? The repressive measures taken by the US and France seem to challenge BRICS ?

Great example of so called western freedom of speech....by the way....cut speech - "The new wave of protectionism and subsequent impact of unilateral measures that are incompatible with WTO rules, undermine the global growth and development. We therefore, need to reaffirm our position that economic growth must be underpinned by transparency, by inclusiveness and must be compatible with multilateral trading system that supports a developmental agenda. South Africa had a massive head start on industrialization in Africa 30 years ago when it first became a true democracy. They’ve squandered so much of that. It constantly sounds like Ramaphosa is expecting/demanding that China/India and others build their future industry in Africa. Both these countries are quite nationalistic about industry as is most of the world. They buy raw materials because their industry needs them. They’re not about to give that away. Africa must start their own industry or attract in large corporations to build some of their new industry in Africa. The onus must be on those who want the industry make it happen.

4:51. You can say that you “require” whatever you want. In the end the international financial organizations depend on the nations willing to loan money through them. China does not wish to fund the World Bank/IMF which is fine. But they wish to act like they do, and that they should have one way access to their files. A nation must be willing to cooperate with unilateral institutions to be able to influence them.
@tresphorempundu3185
@tresphorempundu3185 9 ай бұрын
But that has exactly been the agenda behind IMF and world bank, never to allow a level playing field for certain countries and races to be precise. It's a tool for oppression and not development, that's is why it should be reformed.
@SeeLasSee
@SeeLasSee 9 ай бұрын
@@tresphorempundu3185Do you realize that the World Bank doesn’t lend to the more developed countries? The IMF is a lender of late resort. They exist primarily so poorer countries get loans at all. The notion of not allowing a level playing field represents a misconception. These institutions are not the heart of the worldwide financial system. The issue of loans for developing countries at better rates is a big one. Credit worthiness can feel like a trap to some countries since they always pay more. Multiple new kinds of structures would be beneficial. Individual countries do offer alternatives, often with less transparency and at much higher rates. China does this through its commercial banks. Saudi Arabia lends government to government due in part to Islamic financing sensitivities.

@@SeeLasSee I know exactly what I said and in fact know what you are trying to say,but what the IMF and world bank does is different from what it preaches. That is the problem, it's conditions are not better than China. I can't actually point to any achievement that has come has result of the world bank. That is probably a reality so many in Europe or USA don't understand. It's not what they say on TV,but rather what they actually do. If the institution is reformed and represents the real challenges facing countries. I have no doubt it can actually achieve more. I am not for or against either the Chinese loans or world bank because they both have their own agendas.

Emerging market countries and developing countries mostly emerged from the historical mire of colonialism. We have gone through untold hardships, made huge sacrifices, gained national independence, and constantly explored a development path that suits our own national conditions. Everything we do, in the final analysis, is to enable the people to live a happy life. However, some countries are not reconciled to losing their hegemony, and wantonly contain and suppress emerging market countries and developing countries. Whoever develops well will be restrained; whoever catches up will be stumbling block. Blowing out other people's lamps will not make yourself brighter.
