Recently i read a article on the hindu where writer explained two ways inflation can ramp up, More consumption by the people,hence heated economy and need for high repo rate. And other was of supply related,where lack of supplies were the result of inflation,she related it to Russia-Ukraine war where she mentioned that when inflation is due to supply chain factor then its not always a good idea to increase repo rate as it'll cause more harm. If any one can further expand on it then plz do...

Yes the present price rise is due to the external factor but not internal demand ..people are going to suffer much after this step by RBI. CORE reason of inflation rise this time is fuel price hike which effected other commodities too .so simply its not a demand based inflation rise .. external debt too is the reason behind this rise

The cash crunch in the market is going to continue...As a result, I think markets would be range bound in the coming months. Repo rate hike was evident because of inflationary pressures. I think increase in REPO and CRR has been placed strategically placed before/near the launch of LIC IPO to factor in any fall in the markets because of REPO hike. Excellent video.

Great job on India’s behalf for being neutralised and making it’s central banking system so what normal. Currently India’s politicians are smart, for taking as much business deals as possible. Taking deals for a fraction of the costs, while also battling against inflation is a well played win win situation. A lot of countries should actually start taking notes from what India is currently doing, sometimes taking sides won’t end up getting you anything. "A repurchase agreement, or 'repo', is a short-term agreement to sell securities in order to buy them back at a slightly higher price." What I don't understand is why they exist. How does the purchaser of a security come out ahead?

Say you have an asset (security) whose value in the market is 100 - you also expect the value of this asset to grow over time and you want to keep it. You also have goods that you have manufactured by procuring raw materials (say for 75) that you have sold (say for 85). But you have not yet received the payment of your goods sold, but your payments for the raw materials procured is now due. You have 2 options - you either sell your asset for 100, and pay the 75 due - the asset is now gone. Or, you sell it temporarily to the bank with a repurchase (repo) agreement for 100, and you will buy it back for 102. In this second instance, you get 100 from bank, your asset is temporarily gone. You make a payment for 75,amd have 25 left. You eventually get your payment of 85. You then get the asset back from the bank by paying 102. So, you get to keep your asset, and instead of making a 10 profit (85 minus 75), you made a 8 profit (85 minus 75 minus 2). Makese sense?

LIC IPO is not over subscribed as of now. Retail investors are subscribed 88%. Non-Institutional investors 45%. Qualified institutional buyers 40%. A very weak start especially after all the hype.
