I was so impressed with and happy for Paris Hilton after my boyfriend at the time had me watch this. Finally, her fame was earned and deserved, and she wouldn't just be known as an heiress. You have to remember: *Everyone in this movie did their own singing. No one was dubbed, including Paris.*

Yeah, she really did not deserve that razzie. It's like she was born to play the part. :P
@umachan9286
@umachan9286 3 жыл бұрын
@@wordforger The razzie was for her role in "The Hottie and the Nottie" and it was well deserved. You know the movie who's central message is, "if you get plastic surgery then you too will wind up with Joel David Moore." And while Paris' singing wasn't terrible it wasn't great either.

This movie was a lot of fun, and the music was amazing. The fact Paris Hilton was in it and did extremely well was a bit of a surprise at first, but when I found out the background and how much she actually cared about the project it made a lot of sense. Despite her rep, she has had a lot of money to put into training herself for things like this and it shows.

Honestly, the best part of explaining this movie to someone who's never heard of it isn't giving them the plot summary, but watching them try to digest a cast list that gets exponentially more unlikely and non-sequitor with each added name.

I remember watching back in the early Cinema snob years seeing brad say he didn't like Repo and being saddened. Hearing him say he loves it even if said sarcastically made me very happy. It's a film I've seen probably over 100 times and continue to love. I've seen it with a full audience and the director and writer present. It's a film full of heart and originality that is lacking in mainstream cinema now. Its a work of art.

Weirdly impressed that you mentioned all of those facts about the movie (Paris, Repo Men, etc.) Most people drop the ball on its history. Also, if it helps, Terrance's last name is pronounce ze-doo-nich. I definitely enjoy this movie and The Devil's Carnival, but I would say the sequel "Alleluia" is the best of the three musicals.

I love this movie no matter what. One of the best soundtracks too. I watched Terrance's interview when Repo Men came out. They didn't have enough money for the lawyers to stop the movie from being made because it was an straight up rip off of their work. Apparently Repo Men was based on a book from a man who was actually at the stage production of Repo Opera but even if it wasn't it was still a damn rip off.

I love this movie. My favorite character has to be Blind Mag. Not only does Sarah play her beautifully (so much so that I prefer her in this role to Christine), but she's one of the most poignant, truthful roles ever written. So often, when a character who's blind gets their sight, it's portrayed as being the solution to all their problems. Mag showed that inner wisdom and happiness, personal integrity, has nothing to do with physical sight and that it can often be a block to those things. As someone who's been visually impaired since birth, I found her story very moving and wish more characters like her would illustrate those themes.

I love this movie so much; you can feel how much everyone cared about the project. Then they took the long shot and contacted Brightman, and were shocked when she said yes!

That rock music on the 1st comic book scene, on this movie reminds of Depeche Mode's Music.

To be fair, Paris' Razzie was probably for her role in "The Hottie and the Nottie". You know that movie who's main message is, "if you're not pretty then get plastic surgery and some unattractive guy will fall in love with you instead of your friend." Both movies came out about the same time. Having said that while Paris' voice isn't anything great, she does play the spoiled rich kid really well.

I was excited for March Musicals in September when you started with Rocky Horror Picture Show, but I wasn't ready to be this excited! Love this movie.

I actually liked it. And horror of horrors this and seven lives actually show Paris Hilton can actually act. I must now cut off my hands for writing that.

For week 4, I really hope its Cannibal The Musical. That or a patreon poll with Cannibal The Musical, Sweeney Todd, and that classic horror musical, Soup for One. And I want Windy City to somehow win as a write-in movie.

Best moment for me: Lloyd's appearance, of course. (I'm sure it would meet with MY cats' approval if they weren't asleep.)

My girlfriend made me watch this a while ago :D And while I love the style, setting, ideas and worldbuilding, the almost never interrupted singing becomes quite exhausting after a while xD

1:01- And let me guess. Lionsgate is gonna call "COPYRIGHT CLAIM!" on this episode too, right? 9:07- The Golden Raspberry Awards should just wither and die already. 10:11- Looks like in Routines, you gave the same performance as you did in Paranoia. 10:47- Nice Batman Forever reference.

This was right up my alley as a fan of 'weird movies' and opera. Opera was a risky choice since few of the cast can sing, much less sing opera. The half-spoken lyrics because the actors can't sing the part does get a little old after awhile. I applaud the choice but not the casting which just wasn't up to the task. Even as a movie- it still looks and feels very much like an episode of a Joss Wheden television show like Buffy. It's not even all that weird of a story if you are a fan of opera- which are very much products of their time with shocking sexism, racism and class elitism displayed by the heroes not the villains.
