I worked 40 years in the technology sector. I have seen (first hand) automation replace/eliminate jobs. The last section I worked in, I estimated it would take one year for our jobs to be replaced by automation. Six years later, the bugs were still being worked out and I retired. It depends on what type of work you're doing. I worked in support, technical training, maintenance, programming, configuration, etc. In virtually every case where I saw technology replace a human, the humans saw it coming, but most were in denial.

AI started taking jobs long ago. Many simple things we use already got AI built into it. For example a simple PC has many AI in it. Alarm clocks, calculators, cell phones, Air conditioners, traffic lights ect ect are few examples.

AI assisted automation in manufacturing would benefit countries with ageing population greatly. China in particular, the world's largest industrial powerhouse and largest exporter. China could even reverse the trend in factories shifting away from China due to rising wages. For India's demographic dividend, it would be devastating and fatal. More like a demographic disaster

You mentioned that Law is one of the professions which will be impacted by the AI. While this may be so for legal research, drafting work and the like, AI cannot come to court and argue a case. For that, flesh and blood lawyers are still essential. This will be so at least in the foreseeable future.

IT is the reason jobs are going. Automated technology came and no one wants labor force anymore. And now AI??? Seriously!!! When will people understand too much technology is a curse. And the people who are developing AI, stop right now. The minute you develop it, you yourself will be kicked out. Remember that. Use your brain.

How will ai affect medical field?
@sirbaguette8378
@sirbaguette8378 Жыл бұрын
Doctors are only human. They do not know everything. Imagine an AI that knows every piece of medical knowledge in history, from every branch if medicine. It will be much more accurate in diagnosing and suggesting an appropriate treatment than one doctor who is only an expert in one branch of medicine and who's knowledge is limited. This will impact the healthcare field, but I don't think it will make doctors obsolete. At least, not for a long time

Most of the new jobs will be for people who are willing to take out lots of loans and spend many years in school, university, and postgrad...jobs that can be done by people with an average education, such as data entry and customer service, will be gone. There will be more jobs for people with a technical and mechanical bent of mind who like troubleshooting, and fewer jobs for people who are creative and intelligent but who are not mechanical by nature (like me) who would rather do some repetitive tasks according to an organised plan than respond to sudden crises and emergencies. (For example, I would much rather set the time and date again every time I use my old 2010 laptop than take it to a repair place to figure out how to fix the laptop so that the time and date stays set the way it is supposed to!) There will be more jobs for mathematicians and fewer jobs for people who are good in writing...having smartphones everywhere has already made it mostly unnecessary for members of the younger generation to learn to describe (because cameras are available everywhere all the time) or tell stories (the above for videos) or write a message longer than 2 or 3 sentences (because they can send anyone in the world a message anytime they feel like, so no need to wait till later to send a longer message like a letter). During my lifetime of 1973 to present, typing and photography, once important and valued professional skills, have been made unimportant by technological advances. Physical work is now also actually becoming more valuable than intellectual and management work...because, even though technologies exist to replace manual work, they have more practical barriers and implementation costs than IT technologies, and, for historical reasons, manual workers are more likely to have unions and other protections behind them, as opposed to office and white-collar workers. I can see this pattern here in Thailand, where plenty of people still do old-fashioned work in areas like carrying and hauling, food service, and handicrafts, but mid-level intellectual and management jobs in smaller businesses are disappearing, because they can be done remotely from the top management by smartphones. We saw this during the COVID-19 crisis also, when manual workers were still required to show up for their jobs, but intellectual and office workers were first told to work from home and then often lost their jobs altogether. So if smartphones and Google have made this much difference in this little time, the long-term job costs of AI are pretty scary.
