I left my husband for this reason. Everything me and my children did was a sin, my oldest became depressed and suicidal. The religion had all characteristics of a cult. My husband was aware of how I felt, he decided to stay. Serving the Lord is not about religion is about having a relationship with God. Happy to say we are happy and thriving. That means coming out of worldly things, Its just people are set in their ways and don't want to do what God says to do, they want to do what they want to. Whenever I hear stories like this I automatically assume the dad was doing something to his children that he didn't want anyone to know about, which is why he didn't want them interacting with other people. As a father myself I understand the need to keep a tight reign on your children in today's world, especially daughters, but them being into art and athletics isn't hurting anyone. That’s one heck of an assumption that I'm going to have to disagree on.... First Mom doesn't accuse Dad of doing this to get back at her, so how are you alleging it? Also , Dad clearly had full custody of kids and he had full control (mental and physical) over his daughters. Mom doesn't even mention courts or trying to gain custody of her girls, and I'm assuming she doesnt mention it because she didn't. she mentions what other ppl tried to do but never stated what she tried to do to prevent this. Trust, Dad didn't do this to get back at anyone, its definitely a mental health issue. There's so many similar cases like this where a Parent becomes so obsessed in their religious beliefs that when they see their children acting in ways that goes against their religion they decide to kill them iin more like a mercy killing thing to try and protect their children from this evil world. This is gut wrenching, heart aching & furious. That poor mother lost 2 daughters. It is sad the father died but this incident is very strange & obviously still ongoing. So apparently the parents were divorced or separated & the father had main custody. She stated that the girls were inculcated with a strict & harsh form of the father’s religious interpretations. She stated the girls gave up basic things for their “sins.” So it seems like the father had a very intense & overzealously strict sense of religion & sin. Apparently the girls were brainwashed & on board. This case is still being investigated & is still pending but they were all found dead without any indicators of foul play, gun shots, etc It appears that this demented father killed the girls & then himself somehow. Maybe he believed this world & the girls were too sinful to continue living or something twisted like that. It’s crazy how some people believe whatever they believe - there is a lot of different extreme stuff out there. This poor woman has to bury her daughters & these young girls were ripped from their lives too soon. Hopefully they find out more but still, it won’t change this awful tragedy. Maybe it can help others though. Maybe some mother or father can save their children from a similar fate.

A religious zealot who shuns worldly things could also be uninformed enough to do something like try to cook w/propane inside w/out realizing the danger and accidentally kill everyone. It is getting colder these days. Every year it seem some people die this way. So there are some non-deliberate possibilities as well, since we don't have the normal obvious signs like gunshot wounds and such things that would make the situation more immediately obvious. Though since the girls died well before him, or at least investigators at first blush seem to think so, i'm leaning more towards deliberate foul play of some sort like u were saying, unless their initial opinion was wrong about that. We'll know more after the experts look into it. Obviously knowing how they died is key here.

There was a certain religion I became involved in for a while that I got the hell out of when I realized the double standard. I could not be baptized because I was a smoker and was, therefore, defiling my body. Also, my house was a mess, and I was expected to be an example. This was a disappointment at the time because I really had my heart in it and truly believed, had a wonderful experience with the older couple that I would study with. Then when I was selling my house, I learned from this one woman( a baptized member, an elder) that my realtor, who was also a cop, had been baptized. With rules so strict, he was somehow granted an exception. Because he told them he would 'never USE his gun', he was allowed to convert and be baptized so he could marry a woman who was already a member of this group. I had Lyme Disease at the time, a single mom, was working 2 jobs, had overwhelming and time-consuming OCD rituals, and was too damn tired to clean. Also, I had lost a cat to fatty liver who had sprayed the corners of the first floor for a year before he died. I couldn't afford to replace the carpet and gave up because I couldn't tell if areas I had cleaned were still damp from my cleaning them or from his spraying them again. Sorry, but if this woman and her husband were eating cheesburgers, they too were defiling their bodies. And that cop should have been forced to quit his job under their rules. Coincidently, the woman who imposed such strong restrictions on me claimed she and her husband just 'knew' they were both two of the 144,000. Now I know why my dad told me I would never be allowed in the house again if I even mentioned what they were teaching me. My relationship with my Creator is now what I decide for myself, not what this cult decides for me.

There is only shared custody in WA, and once the child is 12, they get to pick which parent and how much time. You can’t get supervised visitation unless the other parent has done something worthy of reporting to the FBI Crimes Against Children division.
