Reporter says TikTok's parent company accessed her data to try to see who she was meeting with

The Justice Department is investigating TikTok's parent company for possibly spying on American citizens, including journalists, CBS News has confirmed. The popular app is owned by China-based ByteDance. Forbes technology reporter Emily Baker-White said the company improperly accessed her data, and she joined "CBS News Mornings" to discuss.

wrong. there is a clear difference between TikTok and all meta apps. 1st; TikTok is required to share all their data with the Chinese government 2nd; TikTok does indeed gather far more metadata (the data that isn't linked to on-app direct activity). Meta doesn't exactly protect your data far better but since Edward Snowden and the Facebook trials there is far more data protection, this is NOT the case for TikTok.

They track where I am and know all of my shopping habits and tendencies, but I agreed to allow them to do this by signing up for their services and it's all listed in the terms and conditions. Every time I leave a place, I get notifications asking if I'd like to leave a review for Starbucks or whatever place I was frequenting. You people are delusional. If you don't want companies invading your privacy, don't use their services and read the terms and conditions of what you're allowing them access to do.
