You sure do have the greatest luck in growing orchids😊!...you seem to exert ease of effort in growing your orchids (it's also quite possible that orchids in general are very resilient and are able to pick themselves up under less-favorable conditions) - after seeing your nice video, I'm that much more inspired to grow my favorite orchids😊. Thanks for the inspiration!😊👍

Thank you, Frances! :) My windowsill conditions aren't very favorable, indeed, but the orchids I grow turned out to be quite resilient. If you don't know him already check out Dustin's channel "Here...but not". He's a windowsill grower as well and his plants are very well taken care of. At the moment I'm not able to provide shorter wet&dry cycles, but I'm trying to focus on better water supply in the future. Happy growing! :)

I enjoyed this a lot, as I LOVE LOVE species Phals and primary hybrids. To me, the Fairy Princess of Orchids. Some of your vids I watch over and over...Now I have 5, mostly small, but a strong bloom size Bear King has a spike visible. I love your collection. Really think that Before-After-Now sequence is super. Thanks. 👍🌱

Your Phal. Corning's Bell looks so beautiful, and I can imagine the fragrance! Is there more yellow on the blooms than last year? It's so pretty! I enjoyed a lot this update, specially the end of the video, with the before and after clips of each plant. You inspired me to repot my Phal. Mini Mark. I have unfortunately neglected my plants, and I delayed repotting. Also I didn't water them enough, so some of my phals are not too happy, but fortunately the smallest ones are doing great, and my favourite phal. Corning's Violet is in bloom with 2 flowers. But the mini Mark looks dehydrated with bad roots. I will try to repot it today or tomorrow. 😊

Thank you! :) Here's a short clip of last year's blooms at 0:32: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWjPnZZ7lLKaqK8 I think they're quite similar. :) Unfortunately they didn't last very long, I guess I didn't water enough (the usual suspect). Some of my Phals needed to be repotted, but some didn't in retrospect. Sometimes another skipped year (regarding repotting) isn't too bad after all and a good soak is already enough. That's just what I noticed in my sometimes neglected Phals. :) A few months back I repotted a friend's Phal that looked as if it were already dead. She let me do whatever I wanted to and I broke off the long dead stem and let the three remaining airial roots that had never received a single drop of water soak for a couple of days. She bought new medium, repotted it and it recoverd in extreme high speed (2-3 weeks). :D What I'm trying to say is: I will keep my fingers crossed for your Phals and hope they will recover as surprisingly fast as my friend's Phal. :)

Such a beautiful video! Thanks very much for doing the comparison after repotting in two months. That was educational and nicely done. Love your p.corning bell, looks very nice! By the way my phal lueddemanniana (which I was inspired by you when I bought it two years ago) has just bloomed and the blooms have the most gorgeous fragrance as well as look. I smells similar to p.Liodora , I wonder if it's one of the parents of liodora? Thanks so much for your inspiring videos and happy growing.

KZbin has a new feature that shows me comments that I have missed. Sorry for replying so late and thank you for your kind comment! It's Phal. violacea that has passed on its beautiful scent to Phal. Liodora. Here's Phal. Liodora's parentage: bluenanta.com/detail/100069900/hybrid/?tab=sum Happy growing! :)

Nice video! What's that blue equestris hybrid? It looks absolutely stunning, anyfragrance on it? I guess not judging by the amount of blooms. I have a hot climate so I have most of my bark plants with a top layer of moss because that helps a lot with hydration and knowing when to water. I see you have troubles keeping things hydrated, have you think about soaking bark beforehand to open it up a bit so its not as dry in the beginning?
@bumblebeesorchids3408
@bumblebeesorchids3408 6 жыл бұрын
I guess you mean Phal. Buena Jewel x equestris. No fragrance, unfortunately. I chose bark that is supposed to hold very little water. I soak the repotted plant for a couple of hours, sometimes overnight. But it's basically always the same: repotting means I loose some roots, the remaining roots don't get as much water, because the medium isn't as water retentive and the plants dehydrate a bit. Worst case: the plant is set back. Best case: the plant establishes a new root system that is able to store water. :)

Hi I have a phal, I had to repot her as the medium was broken but sadly all her roots inside the moss medium were rot but she has many healthy ariel roots. I potted her back in moss medium, will she grow new roots and make it

Hi. Have u tried the semi hydro method in which non organic media is used such as leca or laba rocks? That way you dont have to repot for a while..

Thank you for the tip. I've potted a new plant (a Cattleya) into clay pebbles a few weeks ago, because I wanted to give semi hydro a try. The plant is doing well, but I've noticed that this method is not for me. I have to be able to lift and the pot and hold it at an angle without spilling water.

Can you provide 17-20·C for your plants in the winter time at least? If yes, you can consider switching your phals to semi hydro. It seems more hassle free when repotting time comes arround once again.

Well, about the spilling problem, you can put the semi hydro pot in quite deep plant saucer, which is what I am doing. :) this way, the water stays in the saucer.

I think I didn't express myself well. :) I do have plant saucers, but I'd like to be able to lift the plant and observe it from every angle without having to be careful not to spill any water.
