I love your houseplant videos so much. I'm a hopeless gardener- but I can appreciate the passion for it and really admire my friends/family that are so talented with it. I got so burnt out with my plants and their issues about 6 months ago- and just stopped watching videos or participating in anything planty. I lost a few and definitely got rid of many and it felt good to cultivate my collection a bit more. I feel like there's a bit of a reawakening for the houseplant love and it feels great. I'm so glad to see your face and hear your stories again.

It’s so funny how so many of us are going through these cycles together! I felt the same aversion to even watching plant content (which usually gave me a lot of motivation and inspiration!) I knew it would be temporary so I just let myself have a break and I think that’s the trick. Sure some plants die but it’s usually a blessing in disguise to take the numbers down!!

Missed you! We are all in the same boat gardening up to our eyeballs….Getting seedlings ready to plant in the vegetable garden. I actually sold peppers and strawberries at our annual garden club sale this year which was great, along with houseplants and perennials. It’s actually difficult for me to part with my houseplants because I feel like they are my babies. Gardening is such a challenge especially in our woodland setting …. Watching rabbits munching on whatever is available and tulips sinking into the earth!!!🤨That’s the best thing about houseplants…control of the environment. I was sitting here listening to you while knitting ….been doing it for 60 years…OMG time does fly! Your sweater looks awesome I have a hard time with the sizing it always looks like I’m wearing my boyfriend’s sweater. Hope we see more of you in the garden ….take care.
@PamsPrettyPlants2 жыл бұрын
Hello!! You are so right about the controlled environment!! We don’t get the benefit of free “good guy” bugs but otherwise it’s much easier! I also struggle with sizing my knitting! I’m usually too impatient to do gauge swatches and even when I do it’s still a bit too small or a bit too large 🤣 trying to get better with that!

Man it’s great to see you back, I randomly thought “hay what’s going on with Pam?” I’m coming out of a plant neglect cycle myself so, I’m making the rounds of my usual plant people again. Very inspiring/ entertaining as usual. Giving a shit about your plants again is strangely empowering and the neglect probably makes them stronger anyway.

Lmao I’m going with that forever- what didn’t kill my plants (me) made them stronger 🤣 thank you for this positive mindset moment

Hey Pam! I, similarly, had a trip infestation that I just couldn't kill. My local plant shop recommended to generously spray spider ban (full on toxic thrip poison) and then to tie the plants up in a humid-ish clear plastic bag for 10 days. My house looked like a full on disaster with plastic bag plants everywhere. But my ADHD brain didn't have to commit to retreating every however many days, and they're dead dead dead. I respect the beneficial insect approach - put this in your back pocket for next time you need an ADD friendly way to go full out on the thrips.
@PamsPrettyPlants2 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! I’m laughing thinking about how biohazard my whole collection would look in bags 🤣 but for those annoying plants that attract them, this is a great idea!

@@PamsPrettyPlants thanks 😊 I went absolutely insane. Luckily my hyperfixation that month was eradicating thrip. I sprayed them every four days (Captain Jack’s) for SIX weeks. (I have about 100 plants, so way less that you did no way could I have done this with more)

I wanna know if Josh’s Frogs still suck!! 🤣🤣 Blasted ninja thrips!! I just sold off some plants that didn’t bring me anymore joy, and to de-clutter….yeah okay - “de-clutter”. With all that extra space I now have I purchased an ikea cabinet and imported some anthuriums 🤦🏻♀️. Thankfully, the roots weren’t in bad shape so the root clean-up and acclimation went smoothly.
