Nice and honest about possible reasons and issues with lack of roots. It happens to us all Adam. I will follow this with interest as I do not have one in my collection. This might have been a great candidate for a pond basket...all the rage in my garden right now :)
@notionbonsai9 ай бұрын
Thanks Xavier! I would rather not gloss over mistakes because there is always space to learn from these things!! A pond basket sounds like a great idea! I did consider this, though the only pond baskets I have left at the moment are HUGE ones! 😅

Hello Adam, thank you for being a great teacher; can you tell me what brand of bonsai soil you use for me to purchase?

Happy to see you measure the length of the wire, so many cut off a foot of wire. I hate waist! What'd the most satisfying phrase in the Bonsai Community? "Give this tree .. a water". Thanks!

I dont like to waste wire if I dont need to. I also keep scrap wire to be used again!

As a beginner the tools you rly need is a pair of chopsticks, a fork, a good cutter, a sharp scissor, and a concave cutter(you cant rly replace it). And as time goes you can upgrade your arsenal one by one

I got some kanuma soil for my azaleas and I rarely use any fertiliser in the water and they’re thriving
@notionbonsai9 ай бұрын
Ahh nice one! Kanuma provides great drainage and acidity, which are ideal for azaleas. The fact that your plants are doing so well with minimal fertilizer suggests that they're getting the nutrients they need from the soil and environment.

Is this plant the same as flaming bush

Why not rinse the root ball in water to remove more hard/old soil?

I think I would have added a percentage of Kanuma to my potting mix instead of the acidic compost.
@notionbonsai9 ай бұрын
That's a great idea! Kanuma can really make a difference in the mix.
