Repotting a Phalaenopsis

Salvador, I have a large Phal that has basically grown sideways in the pot. Roots are in the air and in the bark, but it just seems to want to lay on it's side. How do I repot it with out hurting it? I would really like for it to be up right. Thanks so much. love your videos.

Good morning. Any hobbyist knows that a phalaenopsis is an epiphytic orchid that needs to have its roots in the light to create photosynthesis. So it's stupid to put it in an opaque pot.

There are only some short roots left in the pot but more healthy roots outside the pot. That is showing us the environment he provided outside the pot is much better than the environment inside the pot. When this repotted phal is put back in the same place with same routine management, the same problems will occur, he will get roots rotting in the pot and some healthy roots outside the pot if lucky. It’s nothing wrong with repotting aerial roots into the pot, in this case, he have to do some changes, like improving air circulation or longer watering intervals. This phal is a good example telling us that if there are too many roots outside the pot, it’s time to check your growing environment. If it’s a sweet home, why would the phal escape from it?

This guy is an "expert"? And after just 6 years of application of growing methods? I see nothing even close to "expert" information being offered here. The channels for Orchid Species and OrchidWebTV offer much better information than this inept lovechild of Jerry Lewis.
