Aside from "feeding day" these are my favorite kind of Reptile videos :D
@alantaylor66914 жыл бұрын
Saw this keeper on KZbin feeding large live rabbits to his huge non-venomous snakes, forget what they were. Rabbits were all wounded and bloodied before they went in, and the snakes are just in plain enclosures without anything in them, not even substrate, snakes just curled up on dry wooden boards. I can't help thinking he's a real dickhead. Says the reason the rabbits were already wounded was because his dogs had been off the leash, as if that's a normal and acceptable explanation. I haven't got a problem with live feeding, but no need to make it unnecessarily harder for the prey animals in the lead-up, especially large rabbits, they aren't exactly insects. It's not unlike mistreating cattle before the abattoirs because they're gonna die anyway.
@jpslizards4 жыл бұрын
@@alantaylor6691 there are many reptile keeper who don't care about the feeders. I have seen videos where they're laughing because the feeder is making noises when it's getting killed. I have fed live mice and even a "feeder lizard" to my lizards, but I never disrespected them since they're loosing their life to maintain the live of my lizard
@alantaylor66914 жыл бұрын
@@jpslizards That's right, there still should be respect and a duty of care for feeder animals, especially the more intelligent ones like rabbits. But this guy doesn't seem to give a shit about that at all. Not good.

@alantaylor66914 жыл бұрын
@@jpslizards I hadn't heard of that channel. The one I'm talking about is drthik1. Had 4 huge constrictors all in completely plain enclosures. Not sure if that's good keeping or not, but doesn't seem like it. Just seen a few of Brian Barczyk's videos. Can be a bit silly, but as far as I've seen still has care and respect as well as a very expensive setup. Must be a small public zoo or something. 20 foot reticulated python, and 10 ft juvenile green anaconda on it's way to 350 lbs. Bird-eating spider, he seems to have absolutely everything lol.

Just a suggestion but you should upgrade your plasma corn snake and then put your tiger salamander in the tank. :) the cage size is fine for both but you said you would like to upgrade at some point for the snake and you wanted the salamander in a more viewable encloser.

Just an observation. Dude's enclosure is way to small for him. Maybe moving him into Vendetta's enclosure. A 4x2x2ft is in my opinion a minimum for a beardie. 6x2x2ft is a preferred size.

I actually plan to move Chancho into vendettas enclosure. He’s way more active. Dude isn’t active at all and I don’t think he’d utilize more space. It’s also easier to accommodate his temps in his 40 gallon

@@reptiliangarden 40 is definately too small for an adult beardie. He would definately use more space if given the opportunity (with adequate enrichment and climbing oppurtunities of course). I would also go bigger on the boa habitat. Unless hes a dwarf species, 6x3x3 is idea for a min size. Though sometimes it's hard to squeeze a 3ft wide enclosure through a doorway which I understand. Go bigger, with sturdy branches to climb high or larger cork logs, which are lighter and double as an extra hide/tunnel.

Wonderful video. Your animals are all so beautifully cared for, and it shows. Plus your enclosures are just lovely - they add to the overall look of your home. Re: Metamora - I'm getting a GTP in a couple of weeks (thanks in part to you and Metamora, by the way). Once this little one is an adult, he'll go into a 3x2x2 enclosure for arboreals from PVC Cages (maybe from Animal Plastics but I think I like the PVC Cages product better for a GTP). I just think the PVC enclosures offer so much. They're attractive, lightweight, and don't cost any more than glass enclosures at that size. I'm sure you've been thinking through all of this but adding the info here for others who maybe didn't know about PVC enclosures.

Hey just some advice on your turtles! They should have full tank changes because of the water cycle they need going. Canister filters work WONDERS. 20% water changes every week is whats needed, nothing more nothing less. Regardless of that though I’m in love with your set up and the basking site. I’ve had turtles for 20 years. I also love the video:)

Do you plan on introducing venomous snakes? If I was keeping snakes I probably wouldn't do venomous ones myself as having health problems envenomation would be a lot rougher than the average person, not something I can risk. But being Australian I'd probably go for a red belly black snake as there's something about their personality I like. Come across quite a few in the bush in my time and they've always been super shy, panicking and shooting off as soon as they're aware of you. Very shy snakes. Also when they envenomate it's nearly always a very low yield for what they're capable of, which makes envenomation a lot less rough for most people. They are nice snakes lol.
