I’ve been a long time subscriber and never wanted to own any reptiles, but for some reason, I have been really wanting a crestie or a gargoyle gecko recently. Not sure why:) but atleast I can binge your videos while I’m deciding :)

To be honest I really want to get a Gargoyle Gecko but they're just a little too expensive for me right now, I guess they just seem a little more unique and exciting that cresties, though in fairness I have't had either.

I wont pay $250+ for a baby Gargoyle. I got my girl when she was said to be a 3 year old adult. Someone had her and didn't want her anymore so I got her for $100.

My crestie has always been super defensive and always bites me no matter what I do, he's even drawn blood twice. I've tried many ways to help him destress while being handled but I'm thinking I need to start accepting him the way he is and give him less stress by only being handled when the need arises.
@reptiliangarden5 жыл бұрын
OakTreeAnimalHome That just goes to show how different each one can be. 😅 That’s how I had to accept my skink and not handle him and just give him his respected space and enjoy him for what he is lol

These geckos ABSOLUTELY drink from dishes as well. They should always be offered water in a shallow dish. That is some serious misinformation.
@reptiliangarden5 жыл бұрын
Lisa Mccullough I highly recommend against it because few of them do and I can easily see people using water bowls as the easy way out and not misting down the enclosure. I’ve seen it done wrong too many times with dead geckos, so I always recommend misting above all else to make sure the geckos are getting the hydration and humidity needed. There’s nothing wrong with adding a water bowl, but I try my best to advocate misting to avoid dehydration.

Every time i see a Crested Gecko they always look big/plum.. but mine (6 months old) looks so slender. Is it because he's still young and will he fill out? He's looked after and fed really well.

Also it annoys me when I hear "they don't drink from water bowls" - I've seen 2 of my 3 Crested using a water bowl + my gargoyle using a water bowl. And even if they don't use it, it helps keep humidity from falling too low. I must in evening and during the day the water bowl keeps them around 50% humidity

I have 3 Crested + 1 Gargoyle. Major difference I notice; Gargoyle nails scratch me sometimes, Crested ones don't. And my Crested Geckos are far more social. They go on/near their doors and WANT to come out, like they see me and climb on me and seem to enjoy being out. My Gargoyle moves around her tank less, and doesn't ever seem to WANT out. She's tame and all when she is out(hasn't tried to bite or anything) but she's more jumpy and seems to be indifferent to coming out, like tolerates it but doesn't seem to actually care if she comes out or not. My Crested Geckos though beg to come out, they look at me or come over once they see me so Crested Geckos are a little better if you want a pet to hold.

Actually The one thing that I think is incorrect in here is that gargoyles require more bugs , it’s true that they’re more carnivorous but they actually tend to really dislike bugs and many people have a hard time getting them to eat bugs, they do greatly on just the powdered diets and don’t really need more bugs

Great video very informative I do have a question hopefully it’s not to odd on one video that I saw recently it says that the crested geckos have a tendency to poop on you when your handle, is there some truth to that in your experience? Do gargoyles do the same thing? Appreciate your input thanks again

I noticed you say in your video that they won't drink out of water dishes. This is not true. I have 3 geckos. 2 crested and one gargoyle. I do spray to keep up the humidity and they do lick the water droplets but I also provide a water dish and have witnessed all of them drinking from their dishes. It's important to provide both.Please be careful when making your videos. Someone new to the hobby might come across your videos looking for information so you want to make sure that you are up to date with your facts.
@reptiliangarden5 жыл бұрын
Strawberryowl I’ve heard that some of them do drink from water bowls, but I always emphasize to mist the enclosure so that they can hydrate themselves because most of the time they won’t drink from water bowls. It’s how they naturally hydrate themselves in the wild, so I think it’s important to replicate this in captivity as well. My fear is that people will use water bowls and that will cause their geckos to become dehydrated because they don’t understand the use of them. I’m glad that some of yours do utilize them though! But that’s not usually the case and I think it’s better to be safe than sorry.
@georgiamoonproductions9795 жыл бұрын
Yeah..Its better to do both..Been in it myself a while now..And never once saw mine using their bowls..
@Strawberryfidelity5 жыл бұрын
Reptilian Garden lol how would some one not understand the use of a water dish? And as for how they hydrate themselves in the wild, are you implying that the only way they get hydration in the wild is to drink water droplets when it rains? Lol do you think they never drink from shallow puddles in the wild?
@georgiamoonproductions9795 жыл бұрын
The animal might not understand it...move along..so what your animal drinks out a dish..not all do..so make sure you do both is what shes saying..some.will only put a water dish..next thing you know..its dehydrated and cant shed..NEXXXXXTTT
@Strawberryfidelity5 жыл бұрын
Georgia Moon Productions some geckos are more shy than others and you might not see everything that they do but you know that already I'm sure. It's important to provide a good water source that is always available. Also humidity levels and your geckos hydration are not the same thing. Humidity levels have to do with how much water is in the air inside your Geckos enclosure. Hydration is the actual ingestion of water.
