A US Senate hearing burst into laughter after Oklahoma Republican senator Markwayne Mullin said 'I don’t want reality' during a session on race and education.

It was democrats that championed slavery and got Abraham Lincoln assassinated and that's the truth about that 🤷‍♂️. It was also voted on and into effect democratically. Jim Crow laws and segregation is Democrats fault. I don't know if that much still is taught in schools though that's part of what I was taught in schools in regards to what and how it all happened up through to 1960s when Kennedy made a deal first and before and behind Nixon and other's backs. The book sounds awful to teach a child of 3 - 5 years. Slavery and race is a complex issue. Not something you can compact into "white people bad", wouldn't teaching a child this rhetoric encourage even further friction?

3 to 5 is probably too young for kids to understand those concepts. I think 6 to 7 is probably getting to a more appropriate age. I do know my daughter was taught about MLK in first grade though (6 to 7 years old) and she was able to understand the basics of the history of discrimination.
