I live in Las Vegas, and for months, we have been out canvassing and calling and texting people to vote for Kamala. We've also written thousands of letters and postcards that we are going to be mailing out in 2 weeks. Nevada, Democrats have been very busy, making sure that we dump Trump for good.

I am from Nebraska. It is true that the Nebraska legislature has been discussing removing the proportional voting since Obama was elected because he got one electoral vote from Nebraska each time. Nebraska is largely uninhabited except for the largest city Omaha and the capital 50 miles east, Lincoln.

The best REFORM for the Electoral College is to EXPAND the Maine-Nebraska Method; each Congressional District determines their Elector! Only the 2 Electors for Senate of each State would be At-large Winner-Take-All.

As a Canadian who used to do a lot of canvassing this sounds absolutely nuts! Door knocking companies? People being paid to canvas? We used to just volunteer for the party we liked and then stumble around neighbourhoods with clipboards and pencils. Last time I did that was 2016, I doubt it’s changed much.

Article 1 section 2 clause 3 of the constitution allows 1 House Rep per 30k citizens. Capping the House at 435 reps is unconstitutional. California alone should have 100s of House reps which would change the electoral college. Capping the House gives the Senate a disproportionate amount of power. I live in Omaha and as of this afternoon the move to move to winner take all in Nebraska is dead. State senator Mike McDonald who was the key hold out has announced he will not vote for it, he was the vote that would of broke a potential filibuster, without him the Republicans dont have the votes even if every other republican in the state legislature voted for it.

Small correction - both ME and NE divide their electoral votes with *each* congressional district getting one and the state wide winner getting the remaining two. It’s just that each state only has one “swing” district so it seems like only one district per state does this.

Agree to the SAFE act so long as it includes a countrywide proportional electoral claus. It can easily be sold - a Republican in California has no say, same as a Democrat in Iowa. The proportional electoral college based on the state wide vote will be closed to a popular vote.
