I would agree with that but that would hurt the people that rely on federal programs to survive, medicaid, snap and section 8 housing. Would not affect the Republicans in Control. We need major grassroot movements in these Republican states to motivate the people to vote, most aren6 registered and most think their votes don't matter. It's going to take a major grassroot campaign to make Red states turn Blue. I can post to social media till my fingers hurt but I alone can only convert so many. It's done that way most first world democracies, but then they also don't have the absurdity of having judges affiliated to the political parties... In some ways, going after Trump and MAGA has backfired because it feels like it has distracted people from correcting the systems that he abused and shown could clearly be abused. It should have been that both were followed, but it's harder to engage people with debates about systems, especially with all the noise coming from the cult. I'm not saying that it was wrong to go after Trump, just that it doesn't feel like there is time left in the current election cycle to get the debates about process completed, and it's going to get harder to start them the further away from a Trump presidency we get, and then the worry is that we're letting time elapse to the relapse when someone worse comes along. At the very least though, I feel like every time a Republican talks about weaponisation, the Democrats should highlight the way MAGA have weaponised committees and challenge them to discuss policy that stops anyone weaponising a department/process etc. These cases are a result of Republicans weaponising the map process, but irony is lost on MTG and company

I think the right underestimates the loyalty of the majority of judges and prosecutors who protect this country. The Supreme Court is in shables, but I have faith that we will see justice.

No problem. Just cut off ALL Federal aid of any kind to the state. Let's see how long they last then.

Start with the easiest to control such as Federal Highway Administration direct funding for LA's highways, Dept. of Education funding, Dept of Agriculture, etc

The poor would be hurt. The people in power couldn't give a flying feck about them.

@@twill9278 Then the people in power would start to pay attention if they were about to lose their job through being voted out of Office. DEFUND Alabama now.

Close the military bases. That's painful! One of biggest employers, but they would transfer, not lose job. Their $ would leave. New Star Force base was going to Alabama, now they're talking Colorado!😎

The problem is that would hurt the people who had nothing to do with the choice far more and far sooner than the actual responsible parties.

Whoever is the person that is saying "no" goes to jail until they comply.

What is the penalty for these states that are refusing to abide by the Supreme Court's ruling? What form does enforcement take?

I think they are purposefully not complying so a Special Master has to redraw the districts. Then they can claim how the federal government is unfair and blame them. Also there is a possibility that by not complying they are setting up a case to go back to the Supreme Court saying how unfair and unlawful the rest of the Voting Rights Act is and get it reversed.

But why would the same court at first reject the state’s arguments and then change their mind? I don’t think going back to the same court is a viable option for the confederate states.

I guess based on the Ala case to not follow the Supreme Court order, that following a Supreme Court order is now optional. So we don't have to follow the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe V Wade ruling or any other decision we don't like.
