I have a solution for too many trucks on the roads! When you drive a route and complete it, a new "Gold Pause Node" appears at the Truck Station where you pickup or deliver something. By interacting with it, you can set a wait time. I've done this before, all my stations are 10 seconds wait time, but I realized I can just look at what is produced in a factory, and then divide it by the inventory of the truck to work out how long it will fill. So for example, if we make 20 plastic per minute, and a truck can hold 4800 plastic, then it takes 240 minutes to fill completely. Wait time is in seconds, so that'd be 14400 seconds. So I've set that truck to 14000 wait time for instance. So it'll only pick up plastic when its practically full. This also cuts down on fuel usage, as the truck doesn't consume fuel while waiting.

Great video dude! Sorry, I don't mean to be pedantic, but a quantum particle changes its state when we 'observe' it because they are so small we have to use a detector that physically interacts with the particle and therefore changes its state because it touches it. It's not that it magically changes state when we look at it. Though I know you are using it as an example to explain how the trucks work in the game which is 100% how the trucks work and a good way of explaining it.
@adamwalker35609 ай бұрын
To be technical, in some circumstances even looking at it would affect it, since those photons by which we would perceive would then be removed from the system, but that doesn't apply to quantum particle experiments, since things like that aren't observed directly. These trucks, however.... Lol

A year or two ago I recall creating a modular factory where I used trucks to move everything over a road network. I even created walls to the trucks didn't fall off. But like you see when I was nearby the trucks seemed to run into ghosts of previous trucks and got hung up, and wouldn't correct. At one point I saw a truck get stuck, try to fix itself, then got catapulted half way across the map. I watched it soar through the air and could see it on the map trying to move back to it's route after it had landed. I then turned off the game and didn't come back for a while. I'm trying it again though as the design is so much fun. I am hoping the trucks aren't so broken this time.

I think vehicles would benefit greatly from analog control input support, it's already much easier to control vehicles with native (Steam) controller support but steering and throttle/brake are still choppy (all or nothing). Having proportional steering and throttle/bake controls would make movements much smoother to begin with, at the moment the game only 'sees' controller inputs as a string of single key presses instead of smooth curves between min/max. A kind of system like path/block signals which trains use could further help automated driving, if you could restrict max speed at intersections with signs/road markers (mainly for self-drive mode).

I'm somewhat confused as to the purpose of the makeshift factory above the truck stations. Is it meant to only produce things that are useful for the oil production factory you talked about in the future? Is it just going to stay as a makeshift factory in the future that will produce whatever goods you need in the moment?
@WhatDarrenPlays9 ай бұрын
To build fuel generators, you need Heavy Modular Frames and Computers. To build Refineries you need Motors. This is just a factory that will automate those things for me. In the future, once proper factories make these things it probably wont make anything, but be a place where trucks deliver goods to a central train station for this area.

Maybe I missed it at some point but isn't the coal power plant still operating below peak capacity? Now that you have Mk4 belts and Mk2 pipes, couldn't you upgrade it and get more power out of it? Not that it would make enough to completely power the CCF but it would help your power woes a bit.
@WhatDarrenPlays9 ай бұрын
Already did! The issue is the jump from 270 belt to 480 is great, but the miners can only put out 300 until mk3. So the power jump was just 1200mw. When mk3 miners are unlocked, the plant will double its output from the current 6000 to 12000. But by the time we get mk3 Oil will be well up and running

I did a truck-based build once and just found it super irritating by the end. Both in making routes and the unrealistic quantum observation effects. Now if you could lay and edit (rather than just delete) nodes manually trucks would be a lot more useful. But the game designers don't expect players to keep using trucks once trains are available so I expect they won't be fixing anything. Despite the fact that a factory city running with lots of trucks does look quite cool.

@WhatDarrenPlays9 ай бұрын
This factory has nothing to do with Oil, it's just to create some components that are used for building machines like refineries, mk.2 poles, programmable splitters, batteries, and fuel generators. This will likely be replaced when dedicated factories to each of those components are built, and in its place, there will be a "Transport Hub" a place where all factory exports from Grassy Fields arrives and then gets sent out via rail.
@SpikedVanlife9 ай бұрын
@WhatDarrenPlays I just mean that eventually you will make a new oil plant, and it will become obsolete with new recipes unlocked when you get the blender, and this factory will be replaced with a larger full scale factory. Will you remove these old favorites from the map? Or keep them all including the not very efficient oil factory and steel factory. You already have. Or you going to quickly unlock blenders and go straight to the advanced recipes when you build the oil plant to make something like 3000 rubber and 3000 plastic using the diluted fuel recipe with the recycled rubber and plastic recipes and the steel ingots would use the refinery to make iron instead of smelting etc.
