tip: if u want to use packaged water + heavy oil to get more flue than wait for blender where u can do the same thing but no need for packing and unpacking hope this helps
@frozenherolp90776 ай бұрын
Only if the Fuel is used not to far from the production. If you wanna transport it somewhere via train, then packaging results in a higher amount of movable Fuel. A Blender may make 100 Fuel / min, but you can only package 40/min. For 100 Packaged Fuel you´d need either 1 Blender and 2,5 Packager wich is 99 MW or 1 2/3 Packager and Refinerys wich only costs 63 MW. Therefore: If you want Packaged Fuel and/or Transport it in Bulk far away from the Production-Area, "Diluted Packaged Fuel" is technically more Energieefficient.

One tip for those who really like alternate recipes - you don't need to reload the game! Since this update if you open the MAM and don't like any of the recipes offered to you, you can just hit escape and the hard drive goes back in your pack ready for re-analysis. Sure it takes 10 minutes again, but that's just more stockpiled goods while you wait... Equally... if you do like the recipes but can't decide between them, don't leave the MAM before you choose one because the same thing will happen - you're back to waiting 10 mins for 3 new options.

For my sports that run to the ground, I have a hollow version that let's me run conveyor lifts to the ground inside the supports so they are out of sight

51:18 Something I've discovered, don't know if you've found out since the video was recorded, if you right-click with the zipline instead of left click it will toggle on until you hit right click or change your active equipment. You can even jump with space and accelerate with shift, it and those long range power towers (which can allow you to move directly past, unlike the short range poles) are basically my go to for long distance travel between my factories in the early mid game, and an accelerated jump combined with the parachute can give some serious airtime.

Hello Darren..love the series..i have been following along step by step with you. I got a little lost when you first set up the big coal plant, but thankfully and mercifully you released your save which i promptly downloaded and started using from that point on. Now I am at the 1st expansion of the power plant and i followed you with the powering up of the number of water extractors, I upgraded the 4 miners to Mk2 and over clocked to 200% giving 240 coal per minute. I upgraded all the belts to Mk3 up to the first set of splitter where they change to Mk2 belts and then to Mk1 belts leading to the lifts taking the coal to generator. All of the generators are under clocked to 88.888% Some of the generators all the way to the left of where the belts come in are starved for coal. The first three all work at 100% and have 100 coal in them..the others actually get to 0 coal and go offline until 1 coal comes into it..I have tried force feeding 100 coal into the generators that are missing it and for a while I get a straight line and 4800mw production, but soon after the coal dissipates again from certain generators. For example the far back generator are all working at 100%. Any idea what could be wrong? Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks

I like how you went on to explain that if you double the input, you double the amount of coal generators... Well, yes. It's not "coincidence" or "happen to work out mathematically". You're just... doubling it. xD Good vid tho, as always.
@WhatDarrenPlays10 ай бұрын
I guess when you put it like that it sounds simple 😝 I was more surprised because there are 4 miners, but there are 3 pipelines. Because of the layout, you can just match the number on a *single pipeline* to *one* belt. That does seem like a coincidence to me, that 240 coal on a single belt requires 240 water on three pipes. The coincidental part of it is that a normal generator requires 15 coal and 45 water, you would never normally think to match water to coal in the setup, but because I’ve broken it into three pipelines (much to peoples annoyance who say it should be 8 generators to 3 extractors), then you can match the numbers. Makes for easy building I guess!

@billschannel8214Ай бұрын
A small quibble, but It really isn't that much more trouble to set the caterium up quick and dirty with a regular miner. Run the power out to the southern node and run a foundation bridge to the island it's on. You CAN build a miner over the node without breaking the rock. Route the caterium wherever you want, near or far. One constructor for ingots, another for quickwire, and a storage box. This isn't 100% optimized, but it's a fast process. Just let it run and you'll have a storage box full of quickwire in no time. I don't know why Darren glosses over the mk 2 power poles. they're easy to make and a LOT more useful than the mk 1's.

Well done for achieving everything you did in that video! Before you break down everything in that starting area, have you thought of turning that into like an inventory factory? Just slowly make a little bit of everything? It helps to have a little of everything for when you're constructing factories etc.
@WhatDarrenPlays10 ай бұрын
Some people have asked if I'll make a central storage. I'm not sure yet if or how I'll do that, but I do plan on making a Caterium, Quartz, Iron and Copper factory in the next 4 episodes, and these 4 factories will make pretty much everything I need to build everything (as well as the already existing Steel factory) I also plan to build a road network over these 4 episodes, so in theory I could have trucks deliver the materials I want somewhere, or just to the next build site. I like the idea of setting up the infrastructure just for a build before even doing it! Bring the materials to me, rather than I go and get them.
@MrMarnus10 ай бұрын
It may be interesting to setup a system where every overflow that would go into an awesome sync would then be split into the sync and a box. That box could then be loaded into a train that goes around the world to different factories and picks up the bits and bobs. Then off loads at a central place that divides everything using smart splitters into a row of boxes?
@WhatDarrenPlays10 ай бұрын
This is why I don't like the idea of central storage... sounds like so much work! haha. I'll think about it, something like that would probably be best for programmable splitters rather than smart splitters because of the amount of items... But the idea of sinking resources, and just splitting that line for trains or trucks to deliver somewhere sounds good, its a neat way to build up resources but also make sure they don't get backed up on-site! @@MrMarnus

I never truly understood the overflow aspect of smart splitters. You can just use a regular splitter and when the box gets full it splits into the sink. You don't necessarily need a smart splitter for that.
@WhatDarrenPlays10 ай бұрын
Let's say you're feeding a machine 60 iron ingots per minute, but the machine takes 45 iron ingots per minute. If you leave it, then the 60 iron ingots will back up, and cause the smelter to stop/start. If you split it before it entered, you'd break off 30 and sink it, which would cause your machine needing 45 to stop start. If you use a smart splitter, it will just break off 15. This is just an example, I know you could say "well you should use all the iron ingots for something" but its just an example of how in the middle of a production chain, when things get more complex later, that you can breakaway any excess and send it somewhere else, rather than splitting a specific amount.
@elijahmceachin282010 ай бұрын
Ohhh yea that makes sense. I just realized I was strictly talking about the end product as opposed to ore or something in between the final product. I just use a regular splitter for the end product when a box gets full. But that totally makes sense. Thank you@@WhatDarrenPlays
@_JustMonika10 ай бұрын
let's say you have 30 items/min left over: - with smart splitters, those 30 items will go into a box until it's full, then they'll go into the sink. - without smart splitters, 15 items will go into a box and 15 will go into the sink, initially. If you're using those materials for building, you want everything to go into a box first so you'll always have those items available.
