Thank you so much for reacting to this. BTOB stands for BORN TO BEAT and is an 11 year old group that debuted in 2012 and is still very much active these days, both individually and as a group. They may not be that famous internationally but this group is BIG in SK and Asia and is now getting known abroad as they perform to different countries in Europe. They are the ballad/harmony kings of kpop and known for their amazing live stages and beautiful songs. They have a diverse discography and their music can't be categorized that BTOB is a genre in itself. I kept smiling hearing you guess who the oldest and the maknae is and saying that you can't decide who your fave is, is a normal thing for BTOB fans. (fandom is called MELODY coz every Beat needs a Melody to make a song) We don't have faves..we just love them all. To help you get acquainted with them, I'll describe them a bit from left to right.. 1st guy: MINHYUK: main rapper, visuals, also singer, dancer, songwriter/composer/producer, athlete, actor, 2nd oldest 2nd guy: SUNGJAE: lead vocals, also visuals, award-winning actor, model/endorser, also the crazy maknae 3rd guy: EUNKWANG: main vocals, musical actor, the leader, oldest & also a Cube Exec.Dir., variety show host & the funniest guy 4th guy: HYUNSIK: lead vocals, the father of BTOB music coz he made a lot of their songs, songwriter/composer/producer 5th guy: CHANGSUB: lead vocals, intro fairy coz of his beautiful voice, expressive and is called the living meme, musical actor 6th guy: PENIEL: lead rapper, dancer, Korean-American, born and raised in Chicago, has a distinct way of rapping, the best boy of the group Their recently released track is WIND and WISH, hope you could check it out..feel good song. These guys are like real brothers already, started even before they debuted coz they stayed together in one room in one dorm during their training years. @@JeffReacts12 thank you. Could you add to your suggestion queue BTOB's IT'S OKAY Dance version and BTOB's ONLY ONE FOR ME LIVE Pikicast Pictures? Looking forward to your next BTOB reaction. You won't regret diving into them..they're a gem. They may be older (5 are in their early 30's..the maknae is 28) and are not into intense dance moves or raps but their vocals make up for it and they are known for making ballads with raps and choreo. Plus..they are loud, chaotic, and funny and they never cared for that perfect idol image. They've always been grounded, real and sincere in everything they do..good guys,really and they're well loved and respected. Be waiting for October for the BTOB reactions..they'll be worth the wait.

First of all, thank you for the good reaction. There are some views that see them as second generation, but they are definitely third generation. It is often said that EXO is the beginning of the third generation, but BTOB has a similar debut as them. Also, it was over time that it was imprinted on the public. Therefore, if you have to define the generation, the early third generation is right. BTOB is an uncommon vocal specialized group in the K-pop genre, and is considered a role model by many juniors who have dreams of singing, and their rap and dance are also excellent. The process of finding their own color was long and took time to be recognized by the public, but as slow as it is, they have grown solid in that time, and thanks to it, they have maintained the group by making their own music for a long time.

​@@JeffReacts12Thank you for your quick reply. Another thing I want to say is that as BTOB chose the group color as a ballad, rappers thought a lot about their roles. Performing vocal-specific songs helped the group as a whole, but rappers often said it was an opportunity to think about the importance of their roles. However, they created rap parts to blend in with slow songs, and their genre thirst would often be solved through B-side tracks or solo albums. I think the presence of rappers makes BTOB different from other vocal groups. It is also the influence of the existence of unique rappers that can digest many genres of songs. They all came back from military are close to or 30+ except Peniel (guy on the end on the right who forgot the line bc it was originally the line for their 7th member who was a rapper) who’s from Chicago. They’re 3rd gen like Exo and debuted in 2012. Leader and oldest is Eunkwang (who is considered one of the best male kpop vocalists and also was a practical musical major in college; he didn’t even show half of what he can do) in the middle (#3) with the navy sweater. Hyun Shik (#4) and Chang Sub (#5) graduated as practical musical majors from Howon University (think like Juilliard). They’re still active and this was right before they released Wind & Wish (last song except Finale). And yes, they are crackheads but also considered to have one of the best male vocal lines in 3rd gen along with Exo 😂

And if you really want to see the funny side of BTOB there is a playlist reserved and quiet idols: BTOB which is hilarious. The member that you mentioned with orange collar is Changsub and the one in the navy blue sweater is the leader of the group Eunkwang. Changsub has great solo songs like Gone, Shelter or Surender and he is also musical actor as well as Eunkwang. If your interested in a good guide for them there is one called „helpful guide to BTOB“. The other member you mentioned (the one with the tie) is Hyunsik, he is the father of BTOB‘s music because he writes most of their songs alongside Minhyuk the rapper you liked more.

The members were born between '90-'95, the one in navy blue is the oldest and also the leader. Internationally they are pretty unknown, but in Korea they are very well loved and popular. Their vocal line is also a subunit called BTOB blue. They have a couple of songs and performed on immortal songs a few times. Melody is the fandom name. Melody please correct me if I am wrong, BTOB is 1 week ealier debuted before EXO. BTOB debuted with typical KPOP songs but later hit the jackpot with ballads. Now their discography is filled with varieties genres. From rock to Jazz, they'll eat it. BTOB's moto is "We dont sell CDs, we sell emotion" 😅

That's pretty awesome. Not to compare them to EXO but their paths seem similar. EXO also had more "standard kpop" sounds early but moved to a genre best suited for them (R&B). As for the "selling emotion", I believe it. Just in these little snippets of songs from their discography, they sang with a great deal of emotion and expressiveness. It was pretty cool to see!

Like... there are so many highly talented groups but there aren't that many where the members are really funny and likeable. This group also obviously does ballads very well which is another big thing I liked. Lots of groups can do party music, conceptual themes, rap, etc... but few can pull of ballads as a group.

You can know who wrote/compose the song, who doing adlibs, who's voice it is, and it's English translate. About the request, I think you already have a long queue 😄. Not going into much detailed academic background but all of them at least went or a college graduate and a degree holder too. Anyway BTOB vocals has a sub unit name BTOB BLUE and you can check their performance in Immortal song were they made an appearance a lot of times and in Sugarman once kzbin.info/aero/PLWTF7CeMz4PNBYwDJNDsZ8X0d5Fg0rIvl. The members can play at least one instrument. BTOB was also trained as an Acapella group, almost debuted as a band. And later the company debuted them as a dance idol group, they also used to do acrobatics. BTOB don't just stick to one genre although ballad is the genre they are well-known of in SK. Their music is so diverse so better check their albums for more. BTOB are also part time comedians and I'd recommend you to check on Reserve and Quiet Idol BTOB series. The best thing about Btob and EXO too 8s that they each complement each other and fill a gap what other member lacks. But they all do that without being able to stand alone as well. I enjoyed your reaction, you got to a little bit of what melodies get from them. they are funny, sing with emotions, and we also have difficulties choosing one favorite. we love all of them. glad you liked them, most of the recent albums are all self produced, they all have solo albums, except for Peniel who has a few singles released, you can check different style from the group. they are all worth checking. This video really focused on the vocal line, but when we hear the full song we got to enjoy the rappers more. Peniel's parts are personally, my favorite in most of the songs. i like how he write them. they are also funny in whatever variety show they go, they are naturally and effortless funny.

He was a good friend and kind person even to ppl he doesn't know. He knows to share blessings without asking something in return and is kind to elderly. He acts as if he doesn't care and appear cool or swag but deep inside he's a softie also protective especially to his sister and a savior to stray dogs. That's why despite all that, a lot of Melody (BTOB's fandom) is wishing him well especially in his mental health, we're still rooting on him. Actually they were really normal in this video, it was weird to see them so calm 😅 this Mf are dumb and crazy AF they don't care about image hahahaha Just google "btob red carpet" and you will understand ahahaha Also the two oldest are going to be 33 this year and the younger is 28 (the craziest, he is different ahahah). Minhyuk ( he was a rapper before an idol) the rapper you liked also does the high notes. Actually both of them sing. You saw nothing about vocal range, you will be shocked listen more of them; this show don't allow to show all sadly but it is a good beginning (just snippet of songs and they are a lot, they focus on the main vocals). The older a song is, less you will hear from Peniel (the other rapper) because he is american and was not confident and had not much of lines in the songs. About being so expressive while singing, they are musical actors.

I suggest you to watch their live stages, whatever the song, because they are so good in live (sometimes the live performance are much better than the recording song) But I highly suggest you to watch live stage of I'll Be Your Man (the song that contains what you want with rap break, harmony, and high note), it is not the best in this video because the sound editor of killing voice edited them because their voice were overlapping to each other mic. Full version of Higher is a lit tho. Actually all of their songs are hella good.

Thank you for your hard work and awesome reaction. As you will note from the comments, Melody (fandom) is very protective and vocal regarding BTOB. Should you ask for recommendations you are likely to be swamped with ten years of content and then some all of which are awesome. [Noting here the amount of time I used the word AWESOME, but that's BTOB for ya, awesome] They also have a ton of Japanese content and as you mentioned in your reaction that you liked I'LL BE YOUR MAN as it had everything from vocals to rapping with adlibs and high notes in between with harmonies for good measure, let me recommend one of their Japanese tracks, its called L.U.V. It not only contains all the above but also the symbolism throughout the MV plus what I can only describe as vocal swordplay, a to and fro of musical epic proportions, with emotions on overload. Yeah its a sad balad, but not a breakup song rather an ode to lost friends and loved ones. I hope I have peeked your curiosity.
