Thanks for reacting to my request and the shout out Jeff 😊Glad you enjoyed Mamamoo's amazing vocals and how easily and flawlessly they cover many musical genres. Your favourite is Wheein, she's also my bias but I love all four members equally. You mentioned the misheard lyrics in Starry Night and now I can't unhear them whenever I listen to it, just like I can never unhear the misheard "I got a boy on my chin, I got a boy chicken" lyrics in Girls' Generation's song I Got A Boy. 😂🤣 It's a shame you didn't attend their L.A. or Oakland concerts when they toured the US. I flew from Sydney, Australia to see them perform at both those cities because they are worth it. Their concerts are their playground, they have fun and shine so much more with their fans and of course their mics are always on! The only thing better than that is seeing Mamamoo in concert with a live band, which I had the pleasure of experiencing during their Korean leg of their world tour. Wheein is on her solo world tour and she is performing in the US in May and June so hopefully you can attend one of the performances. Moonbyul is also currently on her solo world tour and US dates are expected to be announced soon. I believe Solar and Hwasa will also hold their own solo world tours this year and they will be releasing their next respective solo albums too. Wheein and Moonbyul have already released their solo albums this year.

Thanks for the request and I'm glad you enjoyed! They're obviously really good too 😀 Lol yea I heard the "misheard lyrics" before I ever heard the real ones so I was like...wait, daddy did not beat their little bums? Yea, if they come back I'll try to go. It's always sad looking back and seeing things you could've done but didn't, especially if you never get a second chance but we shall see! May/June is really soon especially since I just spent a ton of money on other concerts and car repair so I dunno if I'm gonna be able to see Wheein either way but thanks for the heads up :)

I can understand that. But it is important to note that she brings something to the group that the others are nowhere near as good at. Maybe they can rap, I dunno but we know she definitely can and she's great at it. Unfortunately this show is for showing off voices rather than verses so we didn't get to hear her singing much until their discography advanced. She may not get to shine as much in this one but she's a certified star when she gets to show off. And then of course...we know she can sing too! I'm just glad the group picked songs to do here that still let her shine as a rapper at least!

@ayas7312 Hwasa is the most recognizable for me because I recognize her apart from the group as well. Granted I haven't heard much but the only song I've heard that I just really didn't like was "I Love My Body" but that wasn't because of her...its because it just sounds and feels like a Meghan Trainor song and I can't stand her lol. But I also appreciate that one even in my distaste because it has a beautiful message and it was so relevant for Hwasa at that time in her life. She's always gotten unfair hatred for her "exotic" look/not fitting in with beauty standards despite being gorgeous I'm glad you liked my approach to this :) I've reacted to their immortal songs medley too (I'll be honest, they're amazing performers and it's was good but I prefer to hear their music rather than covers of old classics essentially)

What's crazy is that she dedicated herself to learning that craft too. Like, she's not just some lazy rapper who has a few lines and that's it. MAMAMOO was told to choose 1 song but since MAMAMOO has such a huge discography (with all 4 of them having put out solo albums in the past 1 year, MAMAMOO now has close to/more than 500 songs under their belt), and as MAMAMOO's unofficial key-phrase "tell us the rules so we can break them (legitimately)", they decided to perform a medley of their songs instead of only 1. In their recent concerts, they did a switch of their solo songs, which when they first did it, surprised many people... now we see it as a flex. Dingga is about the covid shutdown period. The numbers in gogobebe refer to their debut date. Mamamoo often stand the same way in their performances... from left to right, its moonbyul, solar, wheein and hwasa. You got it wrong at the end. Mamamoo sets the tone and everyone(including BlackPink) emulate them. From the Sweater Vest on the left... Moonbyul, Solar, Wheein & Hwasa The MAMAMOO members are among some of the most-credited idols in K-Pop as of Aug 27/23 - Moonbyul actually has the most songwriting credits of all 3rd generation female idols at 117(2nd most credited famale artist overall... Yoon Mirae at 139), since she writes her own raps(and more) in almost all of the group’s songs. As well as contributing to the songwriting in many of them as well. - Solar has 41 credits to her name. She wrote the lyrics and composition for her solo song, “Spit it Out”. Composer on "Honey". - Hwasa has 46 credits. The lyrics to her solo song, “María”, were praised for its inventive and meaningful wordplay. ("Somebody" w/Loco). - Wheein has 10 credits (that I can find, maybe more) COULD use an Update, as this is 7 months ago LoL... if anyone has the info (TY)

Mamamoo is the REASON there IS a "Killing Voice" as you said. Before them it was Called the "Killing Verse" and featured ONLY Rappers. Killing voice exists because of MAMAMOO. They were the first, and that is why it was short, Dingo hadn't done this before. SOLAR wanted to join 'Killing verse' but wasn't accepted. Then, Dingo Music created 'Killing Voice' and called MAMAMOO.

You got Solar and Wheein mixed up. If it helps, Mamamoo always stands in this order from L to R: Moonbyul, Solar, Wheein, Hwasa. Too bad you missed Mamamoo when they came to the US last year - that was the first and only time they've toured the US and there's no guarantee they'll be back as a full group. In the meantime Wheein (your favorite singer) is currently on her debut solo world tour and she'll be in the US for 8 concerts in May and June. I'll see her in Brooklyn. Her venues are much more intimate than the arenas Mamamoo used and the ticket prices are more affordable. Some shows are probably sold out so if you want to see her check for tix asap. Moonbyul has also started her first solo world tour but hasn't announced dates outside of Asia at this time. I understand you've got a lot scheduled and a lot of requests to catch up with but if you're interested in seeing Wheein and Moonbyul you might want to make time to listen to their solo discographies. Every member of MMM has a successful solo career. Wheein has released two EPs, a single album and a full length album along with a bunch of features & collabs with other artists and some gorgeous OST ballads. She received an award as one of the top 10 OST singers in Korea. Moonbyul has released two EPs, three single albums, a full length album and a re-issue of one of the EPs with 3 additional songs along with her collabs with Solar as the subunit duo Mamamoo+ and features and collabs with other artists. Moonbyul started as a singer and was forced to become Mamamoo's rapper in order to debut with the group. She only sang harmonies on MMM songs up until 2018 and since then she's been singing more and more on group songs as well as her solo releases. She won a landslide victory on a 2022 tv competition show called The Second World where 8 really talented girl group rappers competed as singers. Moonbyul's deeper voice, melodic rap style and her ability to rap over any beat and any genre of music make her unique in kpop and since she writes almost all of her own rap verses she's the most credited female idol with well over 100 credits to her name. As a whole Mamamoo has the most songwriting credits among girl groups in kpop history (about 200). I think you probably missed part of the fun of Hip, which is in the meaning of the lyrics and the backstory of the song. Hip is both a message song and a diss track in which they re-define Hip to meaning being yourself and doing your own thing rather than the usual slang meaning of cool or trendy while mocking their haters as people who spit in their own faces. Hwasa co-wrote the song and the lyrics refer to several incidents where she was heavily criticized for what she wore (or didn't wear) to the airport among other social media shitstorms. In case you didn't know, Mamamoo has never fit into kpop's standards regarding beauty, fashion, gender, sexuality or proper behavior by polite female idols and have always been one of kpop's biggest shit magnets. In Gogobebe I think you were asking about the meaning of Moonbyul's numerology in the initial rap, "9 / 6, 6 19, 9 / 6, Gogobebe!" Mamamoo likes to play with letter, number and word substitutions and this one is largely an in-joke for the fandom. Gogobebe is of course just a cute way of spelling Go, Go, Baby, which is an invitation to party, let your hair down and let it all hang out in the song. 9 / 6 = 9 to 6, which is the standard Korean work day. 6 19 is Mamamoo's debut date in 2014: June 19th. "9 / 6, 6 19" is a palindrome with the slash becoming a one when reversed. Put it all together and "9 / 6, 6 19, 9 / 6, Gogobebe!" literally translates to Work, Debut, Work, Party! or "We've been working nonstop ever since we debuted and it's high time to PAR-TAY!!!" You'll find other examples of Mamamoo's clever puns and playfulness with lyrics in songs like Yes I Am, where Hwasa raps "Me, me, 4 with the Sun" (translation: I love myself), and Moonbyul's solo song G999, which would take too long to explain. Sorry to blab on but hopefully you found some of this info helpful. 😊

Thanks for sharing your info and your love of the group with me :) I may have to check out some of the solo stuff like you said haha. If you have a request, I can also add one to the list for you but that's up to you. I definitely didn't know about the backstory on Hip but I did know that they've never really fit in (purposefully) with typical norms. Moonbyul reminds me of Dami from Dreamcatcher in some ways like the deeper voice but having the ability to sing, writing her raps, her ability to change flows over different beats. Of course Moonbyul is far more established and credited as well but there are some similaritied. Ya know, I always kinda wondered what the deal was with gogobebe. I knew about it basically being Go Go Baby but had no idea about any of the rest of that. That's super cool!

@@JeffReacts12 YW. I don't make requests, just suggestions, and I tried to make those in response to things you said (imo you should do what you want - it's your channel). There's a lot more to Gogobebe but I refrained from writing an essay about it as the 4th and final title track from MMM's epic and historic year-long four album 4 Season 4 Color series, which is the most complex and ambitious project ever done by a girl group. They did all four title tracks in the Killing Voice medley: in chrono order, Starry Night, Egotistic, Wind Flower and Gogobebe. If you want an intro to the main themes, concepts and cyclical symbolism in the 4 Season 4 Color project watch the MV for the project's pre-release theme song Paint Me, which is also one of MMM's vocal masterpieces. And if you want to see what Mamamoo was like at their pre-pandemic peak as live performers watch a vid of one of the spectacular 4+ hour long 4 Seasons F/W concerts that wrapped up the 4S4C project in 2019. Have fun!

@kudgeond755 That does sound like a crazy massive project. Impressive! I heard from another commenter on my other mamamoo vid that they had done 4hr concerts... doing it once or twice, not a super big thing...but doing it for that many shows is insane. Major props to these girls for having the talent and stamina to perform that often for that long. Thank you also for the suggestions :)

@@JeffReacts12 YW. Yeah, who does that?! And besides the vocal and overall performance stamina not many groups have that much material. I recall some long concerts back in the 70's - the Grateful Dead and Bruce Springsteen come to mind - but not 4+ hours long and Chinese moomoos said the final concert in Hong Kong ran 5 hours. Fyi, you can find a professionally filmed 4 Seasons F/W vid with Eng subtitles when they talk to the audience. Right from the first song (a re-arranged orchestral version of Paint Me with a new rap verse by Moonbyul) it's one jaw-drop moment after another. Among the many highlights are the 15-25 minute solo stages by each member. Solar's in particular is truly iconic even tho they cut her cover of Peggy Lee's Fever (apparently for copyright reasons, tho I dunno for sure).

@kudgeond755 Yea it's insane. You're right, most groups these days wouldn't even have the material to pull it off. I don't know that they would do it but the only current groups I know of that even have enough would be Twice, Red Velvet, BTS, and EXO (the latter two of course would be done after all the enlistments finish). Heck, then you've got some great groups like NewJeans for example who want to go on tour but they don't even have enough music for a regular concert let alone 4hrs. I may have to check out that concert in the future for patreon (although it might require multiple sittings/recording sessions haha)

Gogobebe..this 9/6 at the beginning is their debut date..
@JeffReacts127 ай бұрын
There was another commentor who said there was even more to that. I was like, dang! that's crazy! I like when groups throw lyric or visual easter eggs in for the fans (it has to be for the fans because casual listeners like me would've never gotten that lol)
@Popz23667 ай бұрын
@@JeffReacts12 LOL!! Yeah, there is quite a bit to it Brother, that is just the abridged version.. took me a while to get that part of their history..
@JeffReacts127 ай бұрын
@Popz2366 well it's like that Twice video where all the numbers on the elevator were important dates... or in the new purple kiss video where the numbers over the subway car had meaning too. Lots of little details groups throw in here and there!
@Popz23667 ай бұрын
@@JeffReacts12 Yep, I really love it when they throw the little meaningful things in.. so cool!!

Thank you for coming by to watch :D I hope you enjoyed :) Thank you for the support and kind words as well. I don't think there was any malicious intent but I do think Twice did amazing in their Killing Voice video as well
