Fire ants are very painful the same thing happened to my daughter she was standing right in the middle of the nest. Thank God she didn’t have a reaction to the bites. Thank God your baby made it and you guys stayed calm enough to save her life by your quick actions.

We have them all over Arkansas here and anthills everywhere. They're hard to get rid of. They sting immediately once they're on you. I got stung by maybe a half dozen of them and the blisters appeared very soon after. Those ants are appropriately named. Imagine a small child being stung by that many.

We had an ant hill just off the back patio that we tried to destroy. As it was my children knew that if they left it alone the ants never bothered them. My toddler walked off the patio and stopped right on top of it. He started crying and I ran out the back door to him. He had several ants on him which I started swatting and swiping off of him. I had to take his shoes off to get them off. From the time he started crying to the time he was ant free was about 45 seconds. He had about a dozen stings on his legs. I prayed for him and he never had a reaction. He got down and started playing again and, thankfully, was just fine. We moved from that house, just to say.

I was 12 when i stepped in fire ants, it happened before but this was the worse i remember. I had socks and sneakers on. My foot swelled and pus started to come. It hurt so bad i barley made it back to my friends house. Luckily after rest cream and air the swelling stopped but my sock would have soaked up some pus for the week after. Ive always had mild allergies to ants and mosquitos but nothing is worse the fire ants. Poor baby. Poor parents. Im glad she was okay.

I was able to run away and I went to her door. She stripped me down butt nekkid and shook my clothes till the ants came off and then put ointment all over me. Still remember it.

Everybody telling their ant stories :) When I was four I got on all fours and pretend I was a wolf. My neighbors rarely cut their grass so I crawled into an anthill in that tall grass. My mom heard me scream, took my clothes off and started wiping ants off with my clothes. Not sure if they were fire ants but they crawled real fast all over my body. So people, cut your damn grass.

As long as you are careful and ware Gloves when Keeping them. You will be safe. The most Common fire ants are Solenopsis Invicta. And Solenopsis Geminata. lol those aren’t even Fire ants those are Harvester ants Probably because of the Size of the ants in the Video.

I remember how at my elementary school there was this big hill (kinda a double hill) but most always we checked for ants first. Well apparently we missed it that time because I went rolling into a fire ant mound. It hurt so bad. A year or so after that this girl kicked an ant hill directly at my ankle and the thing swelled from how many bites I got in one area.

Here in Hawaii we have the "Little Fire Ants". They can be so tiny as to be almost invisible, without reading glasses on. I go into my kitchen to cook, set one hand on the counter (not seeing anything there), and get bit by 3 or 4 of them. ;( They hurt, for a long time. The only things we've found that relieves the pain at all is ice, or a product for burns. In some ways they're even worse than standard red ants, because they're so hard to see, and nearly impossible to keep out. We had the standard sized ones in Florida when we lived there, and during a hurricane, with the rain falling hard, the red ants just formed a raft, hanging onto each other, and flowed down and out of the run off - where they began a new hill. We have some friends in Australia, and I hope the lfa's never get carried there, but it seems almost inevitable.

Why didn't the mom bring her inside and put some medicine on the bites? Instead she put her in the swing where she couldn't scratch or anything. Also there could have been a few hidden continuing to bite her. I got in a fire ant hill when I was 3 in the parking lot of the grocery store. They had trees in the middle with dirt around them. I was standing there while my parents loaded up the car. I didn't get sick, but it was bad. My grandmother was visiting from New York and she went inside and got some medicine right away.

+billybassman21 If you not have the right medicine you can do nothing. Firstly you have to check the body. Than you have to cool the body, between you have to call the doctor, especially if is a little child. Went to the next hospital. I have an allergy against bee and moscito sticks. You always have to calm down and that is not easy if you getting your arm or leg bigger and bigger sometimes i could not breath. Sorry for my englisch.

This happened the day before I was born as I was born in April 8th, 1991. Makes sense this happened on a Sunday since I was born on a Monday. If Baby Toni was 16 months old here, that means she was probably born around Nov/Dec 1989. She’d be around 31 years old today in 2020, makes sense since I’m 29.

JPerez9011 The actress was a real girl, but the ants were black ants, not fire ants, so the child was safe.

When I was 5-7 years old I was outside and my family inside so I played with the dirt pile making mud not knowing it was a fire ant pile until I got up and 1000 fire ants on both legs crawling on me I started crying but my grandma swatted then off

This exact thing happened to my 2 year old a few months ago. We were at a water park and she walked right into an ant bed. I immediately started walking to a medical tent to see if I could get her some Benadryl, just in case. As I was walking there she went unconscious in my arms. I don’t remember much after that.. I’m so appreciative to all the people who ran to help me or help her I should say. This one man ripped her from my arms and started doing what he could. I am so so great full because I was absolutely useless. She had a seizure on the way to the hospital, and the ambulance had to pull over on the highway. I thought I was gunna loose my baby. I totally understand what that mother went though. She’s fine now, God had his hands on her but never underestimate an ant bite, especially with your infant.

I went through this in 1956 my dad left me accidently on a ant bed. But as that was bad it showed a flaw that has haunted my family for my lifetime.God knows I love my mother but this is what happens when a woman runs the family. She would make decisions that crippled me and ignore me when I told her about the extreme abuse a bully was exerting on me. One day while running from this jerk I ran full speed into a window unit and it did affect my mental abilities. She made me hate school, girls, and other things. She was so critical of my dad it made him crazy. Her decisions wore often reactionary stiffuling my early development.

So your dad left you on an ant bed but somehow “this is what happens when a woman runs the family”? Come on.

@lighter9000, Hell Yeah I would, oh btw the same thing goes with bees too, because they can get defensive if someone is attacking them or their queen bee.

Fire ant bites are terrible! After getting bit alot in my younger life. But when I was in my 20s I had a reaction when I got into a bed of them. It ain't no joke. I'm glad this baby was able to get help fast!
