@nancybannerman122421 күн бұрын
Dispatchers do get a lot of prank calls. I think this dispatcher did a great job. There is a lot going on with this call. The young woman was of course scared and panicking, plus the dogs were making a lot of noise. Unless you have actually handled some of these types of calls you really have no idea the pressure that there is for all involved. 🇨🇦

@DanielSelk5 жыл бұрын
I know, right? She said "You need an ambulance?" THREE times!!!
@crazyhai65545 жыл бұрын
@Robert Ikr? The operator tried to explain it, by saying people often ring up exaggerating injuries to get help quicker - she said 'someone says they're bleeding to death, and it's just a little cut'. I think if anyone's exaggerating, it's the operator. I don't believe many people at all would ring up screaming they are bleeding to death with stab wounds, when (for example) they've just got a little nick on their arm that doesn't even require an ambulance. U might get some people exaggerating slightly - but not that much. Sometimes, 911 operators don't want to believe what's going on, and downplay it to themselves if possible. Or they are in the habit that some doctors are (which has also led to problems on occasion) - they look for 'horses, not zebras'. It means a tendency to assume any patient will statistically be more likely to have a common problem, rather than a rarer one. That might work on probabilities. If each patient has 95% probability of having x problem, and only 5% probability of y problem, each patient is far more likely to have x problem. But of course, eventually 5% of patients are going to have y problem. U can't shut ur mind off to that possibility, as some professionals do.
