It’s been 35 years since this happened so Sharelle is 37, Nicholas her brother is 35 and Sharelle is a registered nurse. This happened on a Thursday and three weeks before Christmas. I’m sure Sarah, Cheryl, Pam and Ron said ‘Thank you’ to those who saved Sharelle’s life.

It’s scary how little children can think medicines are candy. I felt bad for the dad as he was desperately trying to hold back the tears as he was driving to the hospital. It’s amazing that that little girl survived...especially with Big Bird by her side in the beginning to comfort her.

All medications should always keep out of reach of children despite the elderly grandmother's blindness. It doesn't matter whether your medication cap is child proof or child resistant cuz they always kept in a safe place where they couldn't reach or gain access to it

This is scary. I remember when my youngest brother was little he was acting funny acter we got home from a visit with my dad's family. Turned out, his aunt who was on antipsychotics had dropped her pills and when she found out he was acting weird she didn't want to say anything. She finally admitted it and they were able to give my brother the correct antidote. He's a healthy 30-year-old now, works at a good government job, and has a bachelor's degree in construction and a master's in business.

Digoxin is serious stuff and prescribed in micrograms. It is a very high maintenance medication and can be very toxic if prescribed improperly. Blood tests need to be taken frequently to monitor the levels in the patient's blood. Therefore I cannot imagine the amount that this poor little girl took. I cannot emphasise enough to anyone on long term medications to keep them out of reach of children.

Well, sometime during the course of the year she will be. This incident happened in December, 1986 and we don't know exactly how old she was. She might have been two and a half at the time, or she might have just turned two. It's sort of hard to tell by looking at her, because for one, it's not really her; just someone playing her for the recreation and two, kids sometimes look younger or older than they really are.

Activated charcoal is disgusting. I remember it being so bitter. I was around that girl's age, maybe a little older, when I had wondered into my parent's room and swallowed half of my dad's stay awake pills. They were red and heart shaped. It's like the company was setting children up for mistaking it for candy for sure. I think after that my parents realized that pills must be out of reach at all times. Funny thing is, no one explained to me that it wasn't candy, so I thought I was being punished for eating their candy, and I never touched candy again for a long time lol

I just found out today that my son proposed to his gf yesterday. immediately, i thought about i may be a grandmother soon, although she is very focused on college, so that may have to wait. Anyway, my first thought was that my house is nowhere near baby-proofed! He said they are planning on next summer so i better get busy! My youngest is 16 and it's been a while since i had to baby proof anything. But i think i am still sometimes in the mindset of having small children and watching out for them so i don't think it will be that hard for me to get back into that mode.

It wasn't the grandma's fault. Quit putting blame on the parents or grandparents. You ain't so perfect either.

God does not take children away. If a child dies, that's not God killing them. I believe children go to Heaven, but not because God wants to snatch them away from their parent(s) so that He can have them with Him in Heaven. I mean, seriously, people. Jesus "came to give LIFE and give it more abundantly." "Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy." (John 10:10)

The issue isn't that. It's that the toddler wasn't monitored and the medication was not in a good place. Besides, when your child has done something like this, you don't have time for that.

What no child proof cap?
@sabimarcum5736
@sabimarcum5736 6 жыл бұрын
Kevin Howard my mom and I always say child proof caps aren't child proof, they're adult proof. Most kids can open child proof caps. So I don't know if this one had a child proof cause on it, but I'm almost sure it wouldn't matter, cause I've seen kids open those easy.

My purse can open child proof caps. (Seriously... i have to tape them shut or they spill everywhere.) If an inanimate object can open a pill bottle I am sure a child can too.
