i'm too physically and mentally ill to take care of so many pets but watching your videos kinda feels like i'm checking up on ''my pets'' in a sense. it's really soothing just watching an animal being taken care of and thriving. I really adore axolotls too so I'm excited to see new petunia updates.

I am legit so excited to see her gills become super healthy. Even in just 2 weeks she looks super good. Which is a good sign and good sign she's such a wonderful eater too and didn't give you much trouble. Only trouble she gives is how so freaking adorable she is! 😄😍

She already looks so much better. Her color first was grey-ish (almost dead looking skin) now her color is more lively. And I am so glad you got her and not someone who doesn't know a lot about them and she would die. You give her al the chances and love she needs.

I've never owned fish or reptiles and only knew a tiny bit about Axolotls. The video about rescuing Petunia just popped up in the suggestions and I'm so glad that it did. As soon as it was over I went looking for any follow up. I felt sad when I saw the title that she was getting a new home ... I thought you were rehoming her with another person. You've taken such good care of her and she looks so much better! I'm glad you're keeping her! ~ Cheers from a New Subscriber in British Columbia, Canada!

Maybe in that tank at the pet store, Petunia grew up having to compete with other Axolotls for a limited amount of food, so she had to learn to eat fast and quick to survive.

Yet now, after seeing the care she's received from you and how already there's been a vast improvement! I was so overjoyed you decided to keep her! I know she's in loving, capable hands now. I'm so excited to see how she continues to progress. I'm sure if she could talk, she would say thank you! This story is so heartwarming. Thank you for sharing it with us! 🫶🏻☺️

My axolotl Temmie lost all her feet to a heinous fungal infection right after I got her. She wasn’t being cared for quite how she should have been at the store, and I’m also strongly suspicious of inbreeding. I tubbed her for about a month and even syringe fed her to pull her through. While she regrew all her feet….they are a little, wonky. But I don’t care. She’s happy, round and the cutest water sausage ever! These days, she’s living the good life in a 75 gallon (284 liter) aquarium and I’m hoping to adopt a second axolotl. Great job Soda, Petunia is visibly improving with your loving care!

Love the video, just one thing. I know the axolotl doesn't need light to be happy, but the live plants you put in there do! Of course we want happy animals, but happy plants are also important and light is the most important thing for them. Just make sure to keep it in mind for the future, the plants are alive too.

Looking SO much better! I saw a small tortoise years ago at a garage sale. She was in terrible shape, she was very dry and her shell was peeling, plus her color was very dusty. The owner had her in a tank full of cedar chips (yeah idk either) and was feeding her generic lizard chow. Ugh. I had to rescue her, so I took her to my mom and said I'm sorry, this one needs help. I'm not the sort to bring pets home lol. She saw the tortoise was super unwell and we got her out of those nasty cedar chips and put down newspaper, a nice big dish of water, and some fruits and veggies. YUM! She loved them! She would get regular warm baths and lots of fresh tasty food and her color came back and her shell was repaired. Lovely lady!

Fire belly newts are definitely escapees if you're not careful. I had a fish tank when I was a young teen & I got a fire belly newt to live with my fish. My newts name was Enzo & he was so cool. He would come out of hiding everytime I would approach the tank in hopes of getting fed brine shrimp. On day Enzo didn't come out when I came to the tank with his brine shrimp which was very unusual for him. I told my mom that I think he got out, but she kept reassuring me that he was just hiding. After a week of not seeing him once I knew that he had escaped. I look everywhere in his tank & my room, but he was MIA. About 6 months later my mom & I were cleaning out my closet & there we found him shriveled up and dried out in the back corner of my closest wall. I was devastated even though I had known that he had to of gotten out & died. I never got another newt in fear of it escaping again. After watching this I want to own a few fire belly newts again because they are absolutely adorable little creatures. Petunia looks so much healthier & happier by the way. You've done an excellent job of getting her health back up. Her gills are looking so much better & she's gained some weight.

Regarding how many new people found you through your rescue video, I personally think there’s nothing that brings people of differing views, faiths and opinions together quite like animals. Whether it’s outrage against whoever mistreated the poor creature or finding happiness in seeing a sick baby getting nursed back to health, it all stems from love some way or another. Thank you so much for taking care of Petunia and for showing us what truly caring for an axolotl is along the way.

to be honest I believe people were hoping to adopt Petunia as you mentioned, that you may give her away. Therefore much more people followed her road of recovery in the hopes to give her a sweet home. That's actually not a bad thing. You could safe a lot of more animals by giving them the care (that most people don't know how to do) and then rehome them to someone that you feel comfortable with that. You get more Views, more resources to help animals and subscribers have the chance to feel more seen by you.
