My story is almost the same experience. Charlie feel about 30 feet from a williow tree at the park at the end of my street. Had to feed him warm cream from an eye dropper every 4 hrs. About a week later he opened his eyes while lying in a sock cut for him. He slept with me and his world was ok. He became part of the family of a German Pointer dog, green cheek bird and a very small orange tabby cat. One day after a year he just left. About 6 months later while walking the dog, she just pulled off the concrete path into some trees. Before I could even see him, Charlie came running and jump on me. Other people were watching in amazement as I held him and petted him. The he ran down and immediately bought his family of 4 babies into a clearing to show me that he's ok! The babies just staying back from the dog, but Charlie and Sasha came nose to nose and smelly each other! Squirrels are very intelligent. We have see him several times, often bringing treats. He loves jelly beans of all things, guess it's the sugar!! Peace everyone and care for those animals that have lost their home!! Each one of my pets were abandoned.

Good people...saved her that day and then built her the outside shelter....then took her back in. They went way beyond. A happy little story about a happy little family of 3 :))

I nursed a baby squirrel back to health when I was in my teens. "Sammy" was about the same age as Hammy when I found him. We tried to release him but every attempt ended with Sammy holding on to a screen door & screaming bloody murder until we let him back in. Sammy was in our lives for about 5 more years! _Epilogue: Apparently some of the other squirrels in the neighborhood observed Sammy screaming & clinging to the screen door. Some days we would have 2-3 on the screen chattering away while Sammy sat inside chattering back!_

I was lucky enough to help a baby squirrel. It was so sweet and snuggly. I brought it to a wildlife rescue and they were able to re-introduce him back to the wild. Wonderful experience that I will never forget.

I remember my first close up experience with a squirrel. I was in Sri Lanka in a very popular tourist hotel/resort type thing and it was very well known that they come up and try to steal your food. Instead I took all the nuts they appeared to take the most and had a trail that led up to my hand. They are very bold and will climb all over you if they think you have food. They are super cute haha

How GREAT is THIS??? Beautiful humans who compassionatly nourish a baby squirrel in the comfort of their home. Then they release her to her natural habitat so she actually had a choice to be free and wild. She could have just come back periodically to visit. But she made a choice to be a house QUEEN. My son had one once. He put him in the backyard shed where it was set up for the squirrel. His grandmother set out mothballs around the house. The squirrel never got out of the shed , we think. But the next day the tiny thing was dead. It broke our hearts. Never set out mothballs around your house if you know there is squirrels around. The grandmother was trying to keep snakes away with the mothballs. I’m so glad to see videos of these tiny squirrels growing up to be big enough to release

It's best to go ahead and keep her inside. Grey squirrels will only live 1 to 3 years in the wild, but in captivity they can sometimes see the 20 year mark. Y'all have fun with all that sweetness, they are a great pet!!! 👍👍

Squirrel owner here (baby rescue) and can confirm, their yawns/stretches are epic and fucking adorable. 10/10 would recommend to make you feel better if your feeling down lol, still makes me smile every time Rocky does it. Side not, his huge leaps from where he is to my shoulder, sometimes a good four to five feet, also still make me giggle too. Idk why but I find it very funny every time.

Squirrels seem to love pieces of avocado as snacks. Just in case you didn't already know, the skin and seed are toxic to squirrels. The flesh is fine, just not the skin and seed. Nice I've got a tree at the bottom of my garden and 1 day I seen 2 squirrels bringing twigs and realised hey they building a nest I watched in awe for 3 weeks till it was built it was huge we here in the UK call them drays as soon as the last twig and straw was added I shot them both with my air rifle and ime still pissing my self laffing lol

Hi all, we are just going through the same thing in the UK. We have a young squirrel, hes around 8 weeks old now, weve had him for the last two weeks. We have read everything we can on how to care for him, watched countless videos, and I have to say its a joy, indeed an honour, to have this little guy here. I cant believe how tame hes become. But I should warn anyone thinking of doing this - its a full time job! I would have never believed how funny and playful these guys can be. We will, of course try to release him in a month or two, but part of me hopes he stays around. To help a wild animal like him, and see this kind of response, makes life really worth living.

So adorable! You two are amazing! I feed three different types of squirrels in my yard (in other words, I leave their food and water out in dishes) and they scamper about like Hammy does, hide their food, etc. They're the cutest animals and always in the best of moods, like your Hammy! I don't touch "mine" because they're wild and I feel I should let them stay that way but domesticated squirrels love to have their bellies rubbed! And the tops of their heads too, I think.
