I like how the assessment was quick and while still in the garage; it didn't take but a few minutes to note the overall condition and mileage, then the flatbed was immediately brought in. No dicking around with anything else, just close the deal and take it away for its much needed overhaul. Looking forward to seeing what Brian does with this.

Hi Tom welcome back! It’s been a while and so great to see your very fine son with you on this one and of course David from Redline. Another great episode especially showcasing the Tigers and the Elans, both built close to where I live in the U.K. I’m still proud to remember as a young apprentice, Colin Chapman visiting and standing by my workbench as I worked on a twin cam cylinder head. Happy memories

I see so many guys trying to compare the 350 small block Chevy with the 351c small block. In my mind, there is no comparison. The Ford is the better engine, IMHOP. Only owned one small block GMC a 350, engine spun a main bearing @77k miles! Was my baby, oil change every 3k miles. Never owned 351c or 351w, but did have 2 - 390 big block vehicle, 69 1/2Ton TRK and an I think a 64 or 65, I was so young I forget which.

What's perfect about this story? Some man took these cars off the street when they were only 4 years old so nobody could enjoy them including himself and his son. his son only knew them as a dust collector. He dies so he did not need the money, and they are then sold to a rich man who probably won't enjoy them except as an investment. Such a waste of wonderful machines.

AMAZING. My favorite cars of all time together in one barn find episode.. A Pantera and the Sunbeam Tigers. Personally, even if I found a Tiger and the cross member was rusty, along with other spots on the car, I would still get it and rebuild it. I know metal fabrication and don't have the money to buy a nice one, so would work with what I could afford.

Back in the spring of 72, I was stationed at Ft Sam Houston, in San Antonio. One weekend, there was a new car show at the convention center downtown, so, being a car geek, I went to look at the new cars, that I knew I couldn't afford. At the Ford, Lincoln-Mercury display, was a bright orange Pantera. I stood there looking at it for a bit, and one of the people there asked if I'd like to sit in it. Heck yeah! Closest I ever came to owning one. I do have a couple plastic models, and a nos 74 Pantera parts catalogue. Lots lower maintainence on them.

I am in the UK. The Tiger is a based on the legendary Sunbeam Alpine, a Rootes Group 2 seater sports touring car based on the Sunbeam Rapier famous for its exploits in the Monte Carlo Rally. I owned 3 of them many years ago with 2 of them being original fin tail Sunbeam Alpine., and I also had a Sunbeam Rapier. At the time I had two long departed friends, God Bless them, one had a full Shelby Cobra and the other a De Tomaso Pantera. Decades ago when I was a lad my Godfather was a guy called Alan Henderson who worked for AC Cars. Apparently I met Carroll Shelby when he came to the UK to launch the Cobra in the AC factory in Thames Ditton.

I had 2 experiences with Panteras one I worked at a Ford dealership in 77 as a mechanics helper and one came in for a motor we put a new motor. The new motor was a 351 C 2V, so we put the 4V intake on it. I got the old motor. I rebuilt the motor and put it in my 67F-100. The second one my mentor has it as his daily driver since 83, and won't sell it.

The great thing about Panteras were they had Ford 351 Cleveland in an Italian sports car and sounded great with the ability to get all the tune up parts anywhere. The down side was you could buy five new Chevy Vegas for the same price of the Pantera and the insurance on one if you were under thirty in 1972 was equal to the car payments on a new Corvette.

My ex girlfriend's dad had an unbelievable Tiger. He liked me enough to let us take it out for a date night. I've never had so many compliments and questions thrown at me in a car. I've driven some wild stuff but the attention we were getting was insane. Being a young and attractive couple in a convertible at the time didn't hurt us. In my mid 20's I was service manager at a Lincoln Mercury dealership. We had 2 -3 Pantera's in stock. The dealer principle wanted me to personally drive every Lincoln and Pantera and put a sticker on the windshield that the car had my seal of approval. I drove a lot of Pantera's. They were pretty hot in the day. A fun car to drive, but not particularly comfortable as there isn't a lot of foot room. The other thing that seems odd at first it that the steering wheel isn't centered in front of you. It is more to the middle of the car. However, that doesn't take too long to get used to.

What memories this brings back! Had a '73, that I bought in the 90's, same color, with the black 5 mph bumper. Bumper needed replacing and Ford said I got the very last one they had in their parts system! Car was relatively original, but if you want to actually drive it, it usually needs cooling system enhancements. Had mine restored by Pantera Performace in Aurora, Colorado, and when I got it back it was waaay better than new! Biggest mistake I ever made was to eventually sell it to make a down payment on an airplane ... but it was fun while it lasted!
