Today I try my hardest at bringing this 1969 Galaxie back from the grave, but ultimately had to accept defeat. Can't win 'em all!! Either way we rescued this car from a fate of the scrap yard!

My brother bought a new Ford Torinio with a 390 engine just before he was drafted by the Army and off to Vietnam. I was 15 at the time and used to take this car out for high-speed Joyrides when nobody was home and load all my friends in, You guys crack me up that work on all these old cars I wouldn't even touch them unless I vacuumed the whole engine in the whole engine bay first who needs hantavirus

When you pull them spark plugs squirt some penetrating oil down there before trying to break them loose. Then when they break loose work them out until they get hard to turn then run them back in not only will the penetrating oil help lube the threads but you will clean the threads when running them back and forth. Less chance of hurting the thread's on the heads. Thanks for the videos

When fighting any rusted bolt tightening then loosening back and forth usually is easier on the threads. Rolling a burr through the threads sometimes equals helicoil. Love the videos thank you

Excellent video. I’m currently working on a 1965 F250 352 V8... pulled the valve covers and the moisture damage was almost identical. The engine is more useful as a boat anchor. It’s a hard pill to swallow seeing damage like that once you pull those covers... I managed to get a replacement engine for $350... such is life. Dreams of a first start crushed in an instant.

A few months ago I paid 250 bucks for a 61 Galaxie. Had been sitting on a farm for 30 years. All four doors were stuck.Trunk was stuck. All four wheels were stuck.352 FE,stuck.No trunk floor or fuel tank.Floor pans shot too. I haven’t given up on getting her freed up,but it’s not looking good. I can say that after watching several videos of people getting engines freed up way to easily,I can certainly relate to this. Plugs were hard to get out (like yours). But finally I can say that I have seen an engine that looks worse than mine. One thing you did show me is that I probably haven’t put enough diesel in it to soak the cam. Don’t think the original half gallon is enough. Thanks.

I'd love to see that FE torn down and rebuilt, but I understand it is a big job. That would be a great project for somebody. You can get frames from the southwest for 500-600 dollars. The body is in great shape really other than the trunk and possibly floor pans. Only problem I see is you are low on blinker fluid. :P

65 and up to like 1975, the frames liked to rot where the lower control arms bolted in, so, check before burnouts, not that I know what I am talking about.

PB blaster and a rattle gun would have been the safer route. This is how i do factory plug changes on the 3v Modular engines. Soak them real good, get the engine warm and rattle them out. Never had to get an extractor using this method

It can really help to work stuck plugs/bolts etc back and forth. Loosen a tiny bit tighten a tiny bit spray penetrant etcetc. This can allow the penetrant to work into the threads as well as get things unbound.

I grew up with a 1969 LTD Brougham 429 and a 1970 Galaxie 351 fifty years ago (or almost 50, in the case of the Galaxie)! Looks like the 352 in my in-law's (now my) '58 Skyliner that sat since 1967, except it took my machine shop 2 1/2 weeks to get the cam, distributor and lifters out. It actually looked good inside so it's being rebuilt, especially since it's the original engine and it's one of the early solid lifter ones. Right now I'm trying to get the seized rockers off the shafts. The 9 or so that I've managed to get off so far are perfect inside.

Evaporust is water based so it wouldnt provide any lube and it wont get rid of the crud.

Everyone I've ever touched that was that seized has broke on me and I've had to resort to knocking out the porcelain and using an easy out on. I think you may be mistaken, at 17:38, you think the valve is hitting piston. I say NO, it is simply that the cam can not overcome the resistance of the stuck valve. As always, when I comment early on a vid (after my 3rd Ten High) HELLO VISE GRIP!!! I am Trumped by the producer. Never the less, please check to see if that is a TRUE 69 GT car and MOTOR. The 69 GT 390 motor had fueley heads with a 2.02 (?) Intake valve and a large exhaust valve. I know from experience, if you install a 428 "SUPER" Cobra-jet cam. That motor will be the BEAST of the planet. See what you have there before you sell it off as scrap. That motor is worth MUCH more than $6 Bills. (If it is a GT)

Sad to see the car was too far gone. I had a Galaxy XL Fastback, 390, bucket seats when I was 17. I think it was a 68. It must have had electrical problems because someone cut a crap load of wires out of from under the dash and then abandoned it. I paid $200 for it and knew very little about wiring and used what I had, which was mostly speaker wire and lamp cord, to get everything working again. I drove it for 2 years and traded it for a 70 Cutlass Those 390's were great engines and it was a very nice car for a 17 year old.
