Some days ago I have been watching a terrible video showing a donkey which was beaten hard because it wasn't able to jump onto the pick-up: A ramp was missing. My idea: When these people don`t own the proper transport-trailers or ramps the trimmers could do their work on the loading area!! Today I don`t continue watching this video to the end because I don`t want to watch a donkey who is in danger of breaking his legs of being beaten extremely hard of being beaten on the back (break his spinal column!!).

People on these videos keep commenting on how dirty the donkeys always are. Just a little knowledge would go a long way. It is natural for donkeys to roll around in dirt. They do this to scratch their back, but more importantly it is natural for them to cover themselves in dirt/dust as a way to insulate themselves from hot/cold temperatures. Would it be nice if the owners washed them off? Of course it would be. However, would it be for the purpose of making themselves and others feel better or is it really for the sake of the donkey (especially when the donkey is just going to cover itself in dirt again?). Secondly, I notice that people like to compare how animals are treated in the Western world compared to China. Stop it! Try to use a little common sense, if possible. While this ferrier is doing the best he can with the tools he has to work with, we are dealing with working farm animals from rural areas where the farmer works 7 days of the week to barely get by to support themselves and their families. If the only farrier around is hours away, what is realistically the likelihood of these donkey owners having the TIME to drive hours to get their donkeys hooves trimmed on a consistent basis. Time taken to do that is time taken away from doing the work that keeps food on their plates (in addition to the money spent on fuel to transport the animal to the ferrier. I understand that ultimately if they don't take better care of these donkeys, that ultimately will lead to less productivity, but people commenting really need to stop acting like they don't understand why these donkey owners appear to wait so long to do what is needed. Its the equivalent of working long hours at work and waiting until the last minute to get an oil change or perform the required maintenance on your car. To do so means taking time off of work and money and you have to have both and sometimes you just don't have it. In a perfect world, ALL animals would be treated humanely and taken care of properly. Yet, even in the western world, we have animals (dogs and cats as examples) discarded and left to fend for themselves in the streets, so let's stop acting like we are that much better. The hooves may not be perfect after it is trimmed, but definitely better than it was. Just saying.

我看這位修蹄師傅修蹄很多很多次了,我實在看不出他的功夫在哪?有時連驢蹄的肉墊都不修,每一支蹄修的角度是否一致,這樣四腳踩在地面才能一樣高,我看他修蹄就是把蹄切一切馬虎的很,那要這樣的功夫隨便一人拿把菜刀就能解決了。
