I worked in a vet clinic when I was a teenager and all those bugs know the instant the host dies. We got in a very sick dog that had been bitten by a big dog on its back weeks before and the owners did nothing. The wound was gangrenous, full of pus and there were maggots literally making tunnels through its body. The kindest thing was to put him to sleep. The tech told me we had to do it outside and I wasn’t sure why until the very second that drug hit his sad little heart those maggots bailed. Thousands of them just crawling out of him so fast, I barely had time to move my feet away. It was like a horror movie. I think it was the only time I was relieved to help put a dog down because he was in so much pain. RIP to that lovely old neglected boy. He deserved much better.

Every time the carrier (with a top door) they were in got opened for feeding, they did their open mouth "I'm scary & vicious, a killer", it was just so adorable! Crows and opossums were my favorites too! Crows were funny honestly; one time we had like 3-4 crows at once (differing ages and injuries). One of them was brought in with a cough, and despite keeping him apart from the rest, somehow the rest developed a cough too. Except... it actually turns out they weren't sick, they just started mimicking the one crow's cough! It's crazy how smart they are.

This man is a legend , a guardian and protector of the defenceless and the meek . A story from here in the UK last week , someone killed 20 hare's , 1 kestrel and a barn owl and dumped them outside a local shop for some beef or vendetta . Imagine there are people among us that can kill a Barn Owl and then there is legends like you that restore faith in humanity
@rachelectroDC-849 ай бұрын
That is seriously appalling, especially considering the wonderful way people in the UK typically treat animals! I remember a few years ago, CCTV caught someone abandoning a white pit bull, and two days later he was on national TV with the headline "Outrage Over Dumped Dog". They received thousands of offers to rehome him, almost instantly. If they ever catch the freak who committed this latest atrocity? I wouldn't want to be in their shoes. Someone may just "happen" to catch them out on a dark night and teach them the proper way things are done over there. ;)

I hope and think the urban rescue ranch guy will keep his distance and the raccoon will wake up and become wild but we’ll see🙏 he’s gotta get more wild to be around other raccoons. I stopped and went to see, it looked like she was hit by a car so I put her in a towel on my floor board and called around to all the nearby animal rescues as the vet clinic was closed and the nearest emergency one was hours away. I had to be back to work that evening so I put her in a tub lined with another blanket at home until the lady could come and went to sleep. When I woke up there were 8 babies in there with her!
