Mumbat was remarkably cooperative. Yes, she was stunned by running into things, but she seemed to understand the “syringe-fruit” right away, ate fruit, and let you give a bottle to her baby. Wonderful that they weren’t seriously injured and could go home. So many tragic electrocutions lately. I love the patience, exquisite care, and calm loving voice you give to your batty patients. Well done, all of you. The blond wingless pup is adorable and you are lucky to have her to keep you in line. Clearly a genius who rightly appreciated Meg’s multicolored toes.

Thank you for sharing this video about rescuing flying foxes! In Canada, we also have trouble with rabies and are advised not to ever touch a bat! Our bats are much smaller, and some suffer from white nose disease. Poor dears! I have found two dead bats in our neighbourhood, and I guessed that they might have been hit by cars. Your bats are giants compared to our little brown bats! I thought the little girl was quite cute and it's good to teach children about bats and how to help them. Good on you!! ~Janet in Canada

Ayla, the child, is the Princess's kid, and is thoroughly batty. The Princess is a bat carer extraordinaire (who is an intuitive genius with head injury care) who is halting her batty life in order to raise her own personal wingless pups. I miss her skills. We have the smaller micros as well but few in the city.

@Megabattie2 жыл бұрын
It helps if you can feed the mum to keep her occupied so I can feed the baby. Bats in shock don't make new milk and Artemis was a bit "squidgy" which is my technical term for not great. She'd hit her head, she was horribly stressed, and she wasn't managing baby particularly well but she didn't want baby gone. I just filled in until she was feeling better. She was calm enough at this stage to kind of trust me providing I distracted her with the mandarins.

Hi CM, glad you're enjoying the channel. Welcome to Megabattie, I put lots of information in the descriptions under the videos - so if you have questions, look for the answers there first. I also put the fate of the animal if I know it, at the time I put the video up. I may put updates there later if I find out what happened to the animal after it has left my care. There is also a Happy Outcomes playlist if you want to only watch videos where the bat survives; this is a real life channel and you get the good, the bad, the ugly and distressing, and even my oopsies. You can find further videos on an individual bat by searching in the YT search bar for Megabattie/and the name of the bat you want to follow. There is a community tab (like a mini Facebook page) on my channel - if you go to Megabattie home page, there is a menu bar across the top under the cover pic. Home, Videos, Playlists, Community, About. If you click on the community tab there are posts there where I can share pix and talk about some of the videos I put up and answer questions.

So incredible seeing mama and babba bat feeding together, their little bright eyes shining! 💖🦇💕🥰🦇😘🦇😍🦇 PS are you still masking up in Oz??
@Megabattie2 жыл бұрын
We're supposed to mask up to protect the bats from our potential covid. In practice I get tested regularly and mask up if I'm unwell to protect the bats from anything I might have which could infect them and then mutate with disastrous consequences. I mask up when I go to the supermarket and areas with many germy people. And yes, we mask up from other humans if we choose. We've got a new strain going round and the MOP's parents are old so the MOPs are masked to prevent spreading anything to their parents
