I flew this aircraft as a pilot (Captain) at Charleston AFB from 1959 to 1962. I loved the Connie Bill Severn

My first flight in 1961 on a Connie was Seattle to Anchorage. One way was 5 hours and the other was 5 hours & 20 minutes. Jets take 3 hours give or take

In early 1962 I flew on the MATS Connie "Spirit of Hayward." from Travis AFB to Tachikawa AFB. With refueling stops at Hickam and Wake, total time enroute was 38 hours. Have reflected on that trip many times when routinely going coast to coast on jet aircraft in 4 or 5 hours. Making a Connie operational after years of neglect required many hours of hard work and a very dedicated team of engineers and mechanics. It is a complex aircraft with complex engines. Hope you keep it flying....

Back in the 1950s I can remember my dad talking about the Connie and I often saw them and thousands of DC3s routinely flying over our house in Sydney. I loved the style of the Connies. Mike in Oz

My first trans atlantic flight was on a BOAC 749 Constellation G-AHEM piloted by my father from Montreal Canada to Heathrow London in 1949. I made one subsequent flight on a Constellation in 1957 from Rome to London a flight I remember.

What a beautiful plane. There was one parked at Camarillo Airport in Camarillo California for decades up until around 2000 give or take. It then disappeared. I wonder what happened to that one?? Thanks for the video.

You forgot to mention McArthur’s 749/C121A Connie that is now restored and flying. It is currently at the interior shop.

I flew to Taiwan on a Connie in 1958 via the US Air Force. Stopped in Hawaii, Guam, Wake Island and the Philippines on the way. Had to turn back twice on a couple legs for mechanical issues.
