I do like CeX. Thanks to their voucher system I ended up selling a few things I was no longer using and managed to get an EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra for £169. It also had 2 and a half years official warranty left.

I had an amazing experience with cex recently. Went to buy a ryzen 5 3600 and saw they had one in stock in the next town over, took the bus over there only to find this thing was literally obliterated, a big wedge of bent pins almost half across the cpu. How they didn't notice is beyond me. Needless to say I got a refund.

Great video really enjoyed it, not bad for a cheap build. A completely used NAS build using used/cex Seagate Ironwolf drives would be intersting as you wouldn't know what health, condition, age the drives are until they arrive.

Thats so similar performance to my first build. I had a R7 360 with an i7 940 and 8gb 1333mhz that I later upgraded to 32gb 1600mhz in triple channel overkill but it was an insane deal. The i7 was maybe a little faster than the FX. I had a 350W antec earthwatts psu and it managed to power an X58 board. im surprised it held up. Thats an insane deal for the specs you got I really wish there was a type of CEX in the U.S.

I remember CEX prior to their rebrand ie: 'Computer and Entertainment eXchange' so I refer to them using the C from 'Computer' and not C as 'See'. Its then far easier to talk to my kids about 'Kex'/ 'Cecks' bargains

I used to buy that brand PSU from Amazon and a cheap £20-30 solution for a budget build. Never pushed them nor had it running a lot. Good option with mix reviews, bit I wouldn't push them. I've started buying the evga 80 plus white 500w/600w units as they are similar price and I trust the brand more. Have pushed them slightly with a skylake i5 and a 2 X 6 pin palit gtx 760 and a 6 pin 960. Never had any issues. For a system I built, but now selling I put in a 500w 80 white zalman Psu. £30 on Amazon when I got it. Seems good units although my first ever one.. I've never purchased a system from cex as I do question their pricing, but do like the buy parts. Finally got myself first ever i7 system. Got 2 actually, one with a 3770 and the other with a 2600, old obviously, but both cost under £40 each in cex.

The Aerocool PSU's are great budget power supplies. I use them all the time for tight budget builds, you can pay more for the Cylon power supplies but all in all they are good quality budget units

Thanks for making this video. I have an FX8320 and now know what kind of results to expect if I were to play any of the games that were shown other than Fortnite and CSGO. All of my games are on an HDD which is affecting performance. I'm going to buy an SSD and put some games on that to see the difference in FPS.

That Palit 1050 is the exact card I have and as you said it's very good for eSports and older games but it does struggle in newer games also it doesn't help that I am on 2x4 gb RAM and a very old fm2+ athlon CPU but I am looking forward to build a new PC

my current system is a 5700g with a 3060 and 32gb ram.... however, i still have my old fx 8300 with 28gb ram (8+8+8+4) ssd and an rx 570 8gb... it still works extremely well for such an old system... my daughter uses it now.... good to see my hand me down is aging better than was once thought....

Ive bought dozens of hard drives from cex over the years, but never online only in person as I would expect them to arrive broken sending them through the post, had a couple of dead ones and just took them back the same day, must have 40 or so drives on a shelf with stuff backed up over the years on them, from 500gb to 3tb, and a 4tb external on my pc. an amusing thing ive found at least with my local store is their wifi for customers is called 'unprotected cex'.

I had one of these masterbox lite cases and loathed it. It was not only very toasty, but the front panel's clips weren't strong enough to keep it flush with the body of the case so it sucked in unfiltered air and dust built up fast

Yep, an extra 8GB really helps. Added it to my laptop with an R5 5600H + RTX 3060 and it really did make the difference. FH5 was barely playable on medium settings with 8GB but with 16GB it was hitting 60+ on ultra settings.

fx biggest issue is for the most part all the pcie lanes are gen 2 with the exception of a handful of motherboards that had a single gen 3 slot. So even with the end of the line fx-9590 the bottleneck is typically the pcie speed - which limits you to basically the GTX1080 or lower.

Actually, I do have the same motherboard for my brother's old system. it didn't like to run Evga DDR3 at 1600 so I had to drop to 1333. even though same memory kit worked okay at 1600 on GA-890GPA-UD3H which I still have (not using it though) running good old 1090T

this is an absolute bargain, I think you should try some more older games like Halo (original), Half Life, Team Fortress 2 (and the original one), Black Mesa, or Fallout New Vegas on these kinds of systems.

This really isn't a bad PC for the money - though given how the FX CPU manages to match a 3rd gen i5 (and what else I've watched on KZbin regarding FX performance), I'd have to say that FX is dead and you'd be better off with an earlier Intel i5/i7 CPU, or a newer AMD Ryzen series CPU. The 1050 does OK but 2GB VRAM isn't great (but at least the 1050 doesn't need a power connector). 8GB RAM - well, you know what I'd say. 4 RAM slots means shove 32GB in there, or 16GB at the very least. And the 1TB HDD should be OK, but a boot SSD and a data HDD would be better. But still, for the price, this isn't half bad. You probably wouldn't be able to get a full blown desktop PC (or at least one that's any good) anywhere else for under £135 (and especially the £29 cash paid). £29 won't even get you a decent SSD (or HDD above 1TB), let alone anything else.

FX is only dead in games that are mainly single threaded and use one core (clock speeds are far important than more threads so pretty much all games the time it was launched and almost the entirety of its life time), for newer games you'd actually be surprised how well it can hold on

I bought an EVGA 600W power supply a while ago and the seller sent me an Aerocool Integrator 600W instead. I decided to just use it as it had the same safety rating as the EVGA. Thing is that it wasn't really £29 it was effectively £135 which for that system wasn't really an amazing deal, much though I love the FX cpu line it's just no longer viable for modern and if you just want to mess around on something like GTA 5 honestly get yourself an older generation console............................I won't even go there with that crap 1050 2gig. Love your videos man I watch WAY more of the content you post than bigger channels like LTT and JayzTwoCents keep it up.

Ah, those Toshiba hard drives... In ewaste systems I find those are typically the ones with the highest failure rates. Over 70% of those drives I've found have either had an unacceptable number of bad sectors (several thousand) or just didn't work at all!

If your ON a budget something like this is a good buy. I was really impressed this rig could play Forza 5 although low settings could still yield 60FPS with the CPU. Good enough for E-sports titles on older games. But ONCE you play Forza 5 (or other games) at all ULTRA/EXTREME settings it's REALLY hard to step-down or downgrade the visual quality a rig like this delivers.

My main gaming pc is one from CEX with a few changes. It's a bit of a risk as you have hardly any details on what you're getting. When I got mine, the RAM modules were in the wrong slots, the motherboard was held in by only TWO screws(!!) and the front sound I/O was plugged into a wrong port on the motherboard so it didn't work. After these small adjustments, I now have a really good gaming PC after paying just £410.

Honestly the 8300 is a great overclocker and people knock them but the FX line still can game pretty well as long as you have realistic expectations. Still get 30 FPS on Cyberpunk 2077 with my GTX 680 and FX 8370. (I lock my framerate to 30fps). I still think Ryzen 1st gen is a better budget deal now but for getting a system like this for what would be $40-ish USD is a steal in my opinion.

0:53 🤨📸 Ah, that case is somewhat nostalgic. That was a budget case when I was introduced to the world of PC gaming and computers. Nowadays, you can't get those basic cases anymore (easily). All the cheap stuff looks nice in the pictures. So I say nobody makes "ugly" cases anymore. I do like that era of don't show off Cooler master cases (though this one has a clear side panel). At least where I live they aren't so abundant like 6 years ago.... My hair just became more grey after releasing 2017 was 6 years ago.
