That yellow-and-teal combination is very striking. The design of the current Ghazgkull reminds me a bit of a Transformer, at least the Bayformers, which is appropriate for all things Ork-y. That's why I think I'd paint him like a red muscle-car with flames painted on it. :D

Cool vid, I love the color scheme. My only thing is when working in yellow and green. I feel a warm brown zenithal is the way to go. Something like a burnt umber up to white. It gives the yellow more vibrancy imho. With a warm color palette, it allows you to play w/ greens and reds. I love copper and verdigris for that, blood, moss. Yellow is fun. You're a great artist, love the work.

Oh, those are definitely receipt rolls. And I just sprayed the camo on to my faux Russ using silly putty to mask and it worked great! Top tip.

Agreed, Alice is a really good painter, and she's hilarious in a grumpy, sarcastic, expressive Italian manner. I'm there with you in regards to contrast and using more saturated colors, I'm determined to force myself into using those more often. (In fact, I have a project planned to that end prominently using yellow and green) BTW, in the spirit of Orktober, what metal song would you use as a theme song for your Ork army? Other than anything by Bolt Thrower (which is a given for GW)?

Yellow? Red Ghazghkulls go faster! Looks great. Would love to see an ork (or a few) corrupted by Nurgle. Might be time for a few bash-together from everything videos. I'm sure that broken models are probably easy to find on eBay. And, as you said, every kit is an ork kit.

i have to rescue mine as well ... i painted him up really nicely.. was about to take pictures... put the other minis asid.. realised the magnets were not sticking like they should... put him down... went to get the superglue for the magnets... came back to the photobox. Personally I’ve always preferred a more old school approach to Orcs, with bright colours and skin tones to go along with some of their general silliness, but I have to say this is absolutely brilliant. Large yellow panels have never been good to me and you mastered them beautifully. Well done.

Love your videos. Especially live your laid back approach to the hobby. You never take it too seriously or try to cram super technical techniques into them. Thanks! I rarely play 40K, and I have several green skin armies for AOS that I really love. Getting into 40K orks is an experience all on its own, definitely worth picking up even a few just to dabble! There’s a ton of flexibility in terms of modeling that the AOS ones don’t always give you, it’s almost completely open ended.

My one complaint would be not highlighting the necron cable/spine bit, it should really stand out more in contrast to the rest because it's just such a cool realistic concept. Of course an orc would rip a tube/cable out of a necron and just slapdash plug it in and make it work.

Haha! Looks like Ghazghkull's mother got funky with a Blue-and-yellow Macaw! BTW - yeah I know that doesn't fall with the Orc reproductive process, but thought it was funny nevertheless. Still a great paint job. Orcs lives in a Grim Dark universe, but they're anything but grim. They're always looking for a good time, so they should be appropriately colored as such. You've succeeded in doing so! Now you need to build a similarly-colored Orc Army around Ghazghkull YA SILLY GIT!

Do you varnish your minis as well as your bases?

Sometimes, in this case I varnished the white ink layer to lock it in, but once those metals go down I tend to leave it. The bases with pigments definitely get some varnish, or else you get powder everywhere!

Alice sent me a pretty big box and there were quite a few minis in pieces in the bottom, I know I pulled a sprue with some of the parts for Makari, the little guy, but I haven't gotten around to going through the rest of it to see if the rest was there. I know Ghaz will need his little buddy sooner or later.
