Guy thanks for making this and showing that it’s alright to paint on “done” models already. Need to go over my older models and touch them up with highlights
@HeliumFreak3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I had never really thought about it this way before. But now I think about it, it was so obvious because really any part of the model is "done" when it dries
@MrTombombodil3 жыл бұрын
I've started doing this a lot. Now I paint a lot of my models to get them what I consider 80% done, so I can get a good looking army on the table (I HATE playing with grey unpainted minis), and then slowly go back over my army a squad at time and finish them up. Add edge highlights and some shading and more details.

Possible Hot Take: With the exception of missing a few highlights I like your original top skull better. IMHO it makes sense because it's sitting atop the exhaust system for the power armour so it wouldn't be far off for it to be very grungy and dirty. Just my personal opinion but if you're happy with the end result that's all that matters. Seen at 20:44
@srk40443 жыл бұрын
I agree. There are some details that came out great with the repaint, but the new purple armor looks a bit...cartoony? EDIT: Obviously, Guy's opinion on his own model is what matters most. @@srk4044 yeah. I really like the new version but it looks like its from a comic book.
@lukehawksbee3 жыл бұрын
The painting styles popular in the Warhammer community are generally more about what 'looks cool' than what is realistic, so the more you do it the more you end up with something that looks like concept art of a comic book or a cartoon character or a CGI render, etc. Edge highlighting has been around as long as I can remember (since at least the 90s) and that's not how light works in real life, but you try telling that to the biggest company and fan base in the industry/hobby! You have to find a style that you like, and not assume that how everybody else seems to do it must be correct or that you have to fit in with them. (It helps that I paint historicals rather than sci fi and fantasy)
