It's because people die Jules. Sad but oftentimes when there's no will prepared, the property may then spend many years in probate. That is if it's not foreclosed or sold for back taxes. Quite often that's where the long dead previous owner parked it in the shade last time he drove it, just never drove it again after that and it's not rediscovered till many decades later because it's concealed by overgrowth

Just found you guys. These poor old rotted Mustangs just blow my mind. Lifelong Southern California native, 65 years old..we never see cars like this.. I have a 68 coupe I bought in my senior year, couple months before my 18th birthday. from the original owners. Early 68, sold December of 67. Has 289, automatic, power steering, Factory AC, manual brakes, optional turn signal indicators in the hood. Light blue, white vynil top, replaced 5 times lol, 2 tone blue interior. Its in really great shape, on the road . I dont know how you would even begin to restore these, but im intrested to see what you do with them, and wish you good luck!

Great video from a “local” guy, as I’m also from the Mon Valley, just “down the road”. As somebody who’s restored a ‘68 Mustang and is currently restoring a ‘66 Fairlane, I have a bit of advice - take a good, long look at those torque boxes. Even if the floor looks wonderful, cut it out, especially where the driver’s & passenger’s feet normally rest. They sell torque box replacements, but a better job can be had if you replace them one panel at-a-time, using (at minimum) 16 ga. sheet steel. Also, weld along each seam, in addition to the factory spot welds. When you’re done with that job, go ahead and make some “sub frame connectors” using some schedule-80, heavy-wall tubing. Yep, been there, done that! Any questions, come to the Bethel Park ice rink (YMCA) and ask for “The morning Zamboni guy”.👍

The video made it look smooth but I had a couple bites at some of those turns on the driveway haha

This looks like one of those situations where the owner sat on those cars for decades and whenever anyone inquired about them they just said "not for sale I am going to restore them one day". These situation would not be that bad if the cars were properly stored, but most of these situation the cars just sit in the middle of a field just rusting to death. The decades then pass with the owner stubbornly hanging onto them until the cars start returning to the earth and are virtually unfixable. Owner then passed and now the cars get sold as rusted out hulks that are almost impossible to restore. What a loss...
