Rosie Makinney discovered her husband’s pornography addiction during their honeymoon. This was a devastating revelation, yet she also knew the porn had to stop and boldly challenged her husband to choose to save their marriage. As a result, Rosie’s husband began a recovery process with a support group, accountability and fellowship. Rosie formed her own group for wives of porn addicts.
In this interview, Rosie will offer a Bible-based strategy for wives who want to rescue their marriages from their husband’s pornography addiction. Rosie also addresses how a growing number of women and girls are now becoming addicted to pornography.

What a fascinating conversation, so well-done. Balanced, informative, insightful, encouraging. A Christian conversation that relies on evidence-based scientific findings with a number of options. Not sanctimonious, broad-based, an easy listen for even those without strong religious convictions. Such an important and cutting edge contribution to what is a global epidemic. Thank you, Rosie Makinney and Focus on the Family for your inspiration.

Her life is mine. I lost my first marriage to it and now losing my 2nd to it. I’m absolutely devastated. He is not repentant and I have grit he is dead with a lot especially intimacy. He got violent when I caught him. It was right in front of my face and I had caught him several times before. I think I was so broken because he KNEW this was a dealbreaker. He promised me. He broke it over and over and is dead in it now. I don’t know if I have hope and I love this man so much. I just cannot do this again. 😢

My take is that this isn't "being put on women", it's simply acknowledging that we, as women, are dealing with this in growing numbers (on both sides of the coin, either as partners of an addict, as addicts ourselves, or both). For someone dealing with this situation, this is literally a Godsend, a reminder that we're not going through any of this alone and that there's hope to be found, along with practical steps, like beginning by reaching out and to strengthen our own faith first so that the addicted spouse can recognize his (or her) own responsibility.

I don't think that approach works for everyone. Just can't say it's my way or the highway. That might work for some people but I don't think it works for everyone. I think she later goes on to say that just to focus on yourself and making yourself better if I heard that right. And I did try that myself, it's me or the highway. And it didn't work in my case. Marriage counseling from license therapist worked the best in my situation.
