I just watched the whole series, and man am I suprised you dont have more subs. You are making me want to do lots of stuff to my 4Runner but its currently my daily.

Thanks my man! It’s always a tough balance between comfort/drivability and performance/capability. I always go by the 90% rule. Build it for what you’re doing 90% not the 10%. In my case this this will be 90% off road

I can't wait to get in there again; this time with the diff. I had replaced all the steering rack bushings & those were a pain. The steering column was real tight & all by hand. I'm glad your series is doing well! 👍

Solid video! First time here, subbed! I replaced my rack bushings but I’m pretty sure my input shaft is leaking as well because those old bushings were totally eaten away by the PS fluid. Dont want that happening with the new ones! Plus I’m tired of putting fluid in there lol. Thanks again for the vid!!

Do you have videos on how to regear?

I'm having the same issue should I replace the whole rack

My rack is leaking from that exact spot too. How is it holding up now with the new seals?

Perfect. Highly recommend.

Damn, i dont think you could pay me to pull a front diff out of one of those things after watching this. That looked terrible! Better you than me! haha, good video
@MechanicalAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Haha if I would have known I might have paid someone myself!

Regarding the front diff, I had to unbolt the tranny from the center cross member and jacked up the tranny from the oil pan in order to get the rear flange on the diff over the front cross member. Pain but got it done.
@MechanicalAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s definitely tight under there

@Mechanical Adventures i really enjoyed this series! Thank for this. I hope to do the same one day to mines.

I unbolted the support arms from the diff. Still a pain in the arse! 😂
@Afellarcouldprobablyfixit Жыл бұрын
I know I’m like 6 months late. But you seem like a technician type fellar like me. If you raise unbolt the engine mounts and lift the engine. Makes lift a lot easier. Also take the mounting ears off
@ianlennox46332 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it helps a lot to remove the front mounting arms off the front diff housing to get it out.
@MechanicalAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I could see that

excellent and dirty job but you need 4 hands for this I want to do the same on my 2000 4runner
@Patrick.Weightman Жыл бұрын
In the future, removing the two front arms completely off the front diff really help with removing it.
@Anotherdaynparadise Жыл бұрын
Why did you take the whole rack out to remove that part off of it?
@hillbilliesinthehood9472 Жыл бұрын
You don't, I just did the same job left the rack in place and just pulled the top off, much simpler..
@jonbonnette83502 жыл бұрын
Hello, when you had to put the splined piece back into the steering rack does it just drop it or do you have to line it up a certain way? Thank you
@MechanicalAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Should just drop in
@jonbonnette83502 жыл бұрын
@@MechanicalAdventures thank you, I was replacing my steering rack bushings and removed the 2/12mm bolts where that spindle is instead of the 2/12mm on the rag joint. Making it really hard to get the rack back in place.

Please replace your LBJ’s before you drive that again. They fail catastrophically. I’m sure you’re aware of that though.
