Nice talk; thanks for sharing! One concern related to using LLMs as emulators is that it could magnify our inferior knowledge about the world's physics by performing experiments based on our emulated world model instead of the real-world model as we did in the conventional case. I guess we would be as accurate as how far the emulation is close to the real world.

Please present instead how these newly generated molecules and materials can be *produced*. As someone who does not have academic funding for the rest of my life, a financial incentive has to be attainable, which is just not there, if I cannot create a product. Or maybe this talk isn't about propelling humanity into the future but more of a demonstration of how prestigious and superbly smart Christopher Bishops lab is or at least wants to be perceived as. The interesting thing for the public is not how you use LLMs to generate novel materials but how these novel materials can be synthesized. Restructuring scientific expressions of molecules to fit a transformer or diffusion architecture really isn't novel at this point.

When you want to create a financially feasible product you still need to spend resources to come up with potential products to produce before you can begin thinking about whether or not a given product is feasible for production. I don't see any reason to be so upset at the fact that the cost of any part of this process is reduced
